my home is 2.8 miles from downtown Salt Lake City. I'm using the intersection of South Temple and Main Street as the center of downtown, since the city's street numbering system starts there.
I used to work there south of there as well, but have recently changed jobs. The new commute is 3.2 miles to the west.
