I don't know exactly what your gripe is, but the new-build Safeway in the West End is as large as the City Market at The Post. And the two towers on top added 330 homes to the neighbourhood. And if you want to get dinner you can just walk down the street to any number of restaurants along Denman.

The Safeway at Robson and Denman could certainly be redeveloped into something more, but redevelopment along Robson hasn't progressed much past Cardero yet.
