“Mark Carney will maintain oil and gas emissions cap”, environment minister says

Soooo what is it, Mark?

“Something that my government is going to do is to use all of the powers of the federal government, including the emergency powers of the federal government, to accelerate the major projects that we need in order to build this economy and take on the Americans,” Carney said.

When asked about if Carney would ever “impose a pipeline on Quebec”

“I would never impose,” a pipeline on Quebec” says Carney.

Soooo what is it, Mark?

This guy cannot be trusted, he doesn’t have any clear path, other than those he has taken from the Cons.

Wasn’t a part of Brookfield head office move to New York to avoid tariffs …. Annnd that was a lie

Canada is major semiconductor to the US… annnd that was a lie (or at least completely out of touch.

Carbon tax on industry has no economic bearing on the consumer. Annnd that was a lie.
So... Not "Just Like Justin" after all.

After all, definitely not.

Especially with his latest announcements today building out the O&G sector.

Definitely 100% a lot more like Poilievre

I love all the conservatives on social media. “He’s stealing our ideas!”

Shouldn’t you be happy that your government is doing things that you agree with? This is the great thing about being a Liberal. When the circumstances of the world need a government that moves to the left, they can. When it needs a government that pushes right, they can. They aren’t stuck in rigid dogmatic principles.

This is why 75% of Canada’s existence has been under a Liberal government.

Im in favour, without question if he sticks to his word about building an energy corridor. Straight from the Con playbook, but whatever.

That’s the beauty too of having the official opposition pursuing these important matters. Eventually the Libs cave and realize that it is in fact very important to have trans national infrastructure for moving our valuable oil sands and natural gas. The Libs have been warned for 10 years now of the necessity to reach global markets because we are entirely dependent on the USA, only to end up with a lunatic president in the US that forces our hand… to quote one of Canada’s greats, “I hate to say I todaso, but I f’n todaso” - Ricky

This campaign is gonna be fun. They are basically gonna debate who can implement the Conservative platform better.

I could envision switching my vote to the Libs if Carney has a serious plan to boost the value of Canadian real estate from current levels (continuing the Scheme to a significant degree being the obvious way of achieving this.)

Now that opens up the type of seat that Carney would likely do well in. My guess is that he will choose to run in Edmonton Centre.

Any chance this time around that the election won’t be determined until we count the last vote in B.C.?

Hard to take Carney and the Liberal government seriously with anything on oil and gas. Many of them have past views that would contradict some of the signalling going on now.

There is also just a strategy of obscuring actual intentions through complexity. ie ""I'm doing these auxiliary seemingly pro oil and gas policy/investments"...but still maintaining industry emission caps...which effectively a production cap.

Seriously? Despite political backlash, the Liberals spent $5 billion to literally buy a freaking pipeline because they knew how important it was to get to other markets. The first one in decades to go somewhere other than the USA. Harper chose to go south. He was a Conservative BTW.

Selling oil is not a Conservative platform. We sell 30% more oil today than we did under Harper.

Politics is unfortunately remarkably impervious to facts.

They sure planned Carney’s week before the election call well. Every day some big headline grabbing event or announcement. This first ministers meeting and corridor study was a coup.

It must’ve made Pierre furious to see him skating with the Oilers.

It’s true. It’s more about picking a team.

“It’s really hard to overstate the importance of this pipeline,” said Mark Parsons, chief economist at ATB Financial, in an interview.

“We really consider the Trans Mountain expansion a game-changer.”

In a nutshell, the Trans Mountain expansion has brought an end to the transportation bottlenecks that for years kept a lid on the Canadian oil industry’s ability to grow. With fresh ability to ship barrels out of Western Canada’s oil-producing region, companies have been able to turn on the taps. Now that it is completed, Canadian oil production is smashing records.

Abacus is now the only recent pollster without a LPC lead.

Innovative has officially joined Leger, Ipsos, Ekos, Angus Reid, Liason, and Mainstreet in showing a LPC lead.

Nanos also still maintained a +1 CPC lead.

I have a feeling polls will go whack during the campaign, especially in QB

Nanos only surveys 250 people per week. Half their data is 3-4 weeks old.

Once the election starts they'll bump up their sample size so it becomes a bit more useful, but yeah outside of a campaign their rolling poll is a bit useless. Very small sample size every week.

This is a good reason why the Conservatives should have ignored all the background noise a few months ago when people were screaming at them that they weren't releasing a platform outside of an election. They caved and started releasing platform ideas outside of a campaign, at rallies which only other conservatives were watching, and then the Liberals pick off what they like and use it themselves. Now they won't actually get any credit for these ideas lol.

Lesson hopefully learned for them for the next election after this one.
