Three coaches, three gms, and 9 seasons later, the Leafs have officially clinched a playoff spot.

Not really, their injuries were just not as severe as initially reported. They explained why Karlsson was able to return so fast tonight - it wasn't a complete tear of his achilles tendon.

LOL... we suck!!!

Price's confidence has been completely destroyed. He's one of the worst goalies in the NHL right now.

Our D is atrocious as well. Gorges and Bouillon have WAY too much ice time at the moment. The last couple of games have been really bad. It's going to be 4 short games in the playoffs if we keep this up.

Also, Leafs fans will finally be able to see their team in the playoffs in HD.
The last time they made the playoffs, Youtube and Facebook didn't even exist.

Leafs are going to the playoffs! I cannot even begin to imagine the level of excitement permeating through Toronto right now. I will be rooting heavily for that team this year (after the Kings, that is).

In your honest opinion, would the Leafs winning the Cup be a bigger deal than when the Boston Red Sox ended their 86-year drought?

Canucks clinched a spot too. Maybe Leafs/Canucks final.

I realize the Leafs are huge in Toronto, but Boston is a city deeply steeped in sports tradition, much more so than Toronto imo. Toronto is a big city with lots of hockey fans, but like Vancouver, it is a city of immigrants who don't have nearly the emotional attachment to their teams the way Bostonians do. Tack onto that an 86 year span between winning championships. Boston is one of the great sports cities in North America.

Looks like we might have four(possibly five) Canadian teams in the playoffs this year. Regardless of who you cheer for I think we can all agree that it's time the cup came back to Canada after 20 years.

If it's not Calgary (or Montreal) I hope it doesn't come back to Canada!

This is something I've never understood. I'm not a Habs fan, but I would much rather the Habs win over Phoenix or Florida. It doesn't matter that I'm a fan of a rival team, it's about a fanbase being rewarded for their loyalty and support. This "if my team doesn't win than screw everyone else" view seems so petty.

Cheering for a team you don't support just because they are Canadian is rather sad. All this cup belongs in Canada crap is just as pathetic as the Tim Horton or molsons fake Canadian identity garbage on TV. Ugh. The insecurity and the need for us to constantly validate ourselves is the worst thing about Canadians.

For me it's actually the opposite. I would like to see the hockey fans in places like Columbus or Nashville rewarded....Those, the ones that show up, and have hung in there are some very dedicated fans.

Here in Canada hockey is the default sport and for many, the place to go and be seen. I couldn't care less about the fan base from other Canadian cities.

Lol cheering for another Canadian team has nothing to do with validating ourselves. The majority of the roster of any American team that wins the cup will be Canadian. It's simply about the most passionate fans who care most about the sport getting to see their team bring home a championship.

Ya you're right, those sellout crowds in Sunrise every night care way more about the game than the fans who make the MTS Center one of the craziest venues in the league.

The Florida Panthers television broadcasts sometime sound like an infomercial what with all the drop ins for upcoming concerts, ticket discounts and the like.

Turns out, some real infomercials on local television channels in South Florida actually draw more viewers than the Panthers games on Fox Sports.

Here are the five lowest watched NHL teams per game (Carolina not included in this report, although you have to think they have more than the 14K watching the Lightning on SunSports.)

Tampa Bay: 14K
Columbus: 10K
Phoenix: 9K
Atlanta: 6K
Florida: 3K

Oh. Suburbanite mentioned low attendance at Sunrise, so i was just following up with the low viewership in Miami.
