It's entirely possible the Oilers will finish below the Flames when it all shakes out (and picking higher inteh draft). Colorado, Anaheim (twice), Chicago, Vancouver, and Minnesota to round out the schedule. I can see them winning only once maybe twice more.

This is embarassing.

The Oilers have shown a serious lack of heart in this recent skid, very surprised at this. Here's hoping they beat the Avs tonight so the Flames get a better chance at a top 3 pick.

That is what has disappointed me most about them.

Please no, we (the Flames) actually need a good draft pick. You guys don't!

If the Flames beat the Ducks I will go postal! After all the countless times they've lost to the Ducks when they needed wins, they had better not beat them tonight.

Agreed but the fact remains they still need a D man. I don't think that will come through the draft.

I do think the flames will get good picks in the draft - however they didn't get much for Iginla, the problems in the locker room will stay the same and Mikka is retireing at the end of the year so there's no change on getting him either.

The rebuild process has taken too long to actually hit the button.
Sad to say Flames fans, it looks like a long rebuild process.

The Jets will be lucky to make the playoffs, and if they do the only reason is because they playing in the AHL, or as some call it; the Southeast division. I'd love to see their record playing in an actual NHL division like the northeast.
EXACTLY!!!

Can't wait to see how The Jest do next season when they're in a real ... I mean, tough division.

Don't worry, babchuk and McGratton are checking into the lineup today. Babchuk should be good for a couple goals against.

Based on their history thus far, they are a pretty good team at upsetting the top dogs. There are many instances this year where they have taken on the best of the league and come out decisively on top. The problem with the Jets is not within the talent pool, it is whether or not they decide to show up and play.

Exactly the same story for almost every team in the league.

They aren't that far from having a shot at Seth Jones. That's a bit of an outside chance, but with 3 first rounders, they can pick up a d-man if needed. Their defence actually looks better now that Bouwmeester is gone and Brody is playing more minutes.

With Mikka gone next year they should be at the bottom of the league again, but it's anyone's guess as to how long the rebuild process will take. I have a hunch it won't be as long as people think.

Do the Flames have a young prospect goalie? What are their plans for the net in the future?

What about the Oilers? Is Dubynk their goalie of the future? Do they have someone else?

This has definitely been an entertaining season for the playoffbound Canadian teams.

Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Winnipeg were surprises in the East. Vancouver met expectations. All had their slumps but in the end, all kept their playoff spots except for Winnipeg who still have a shot. Vancouver almost lost their divsion but they basically clinched it. Hopefully Montreal can keep theirs.

The Flames top prospect is probably Karri Ramo of the KHL, we got his rights from Montreal along with Cammaleri last year. We got a goalie in the Bouwmeester trade, Reyto Barra who is supposed to be pretty good. Leland Irving is probably done with the team and we also have Danny Taylor who is doing fairly well in Abbotsford. I think MacDonald could be a starting goaltender, he has done fairly well for a team that has a tendency to get hemmed in their own zone for several minutes at a time. To sum it up, goaltending is fairly unknown in Calgary right now, Ramo and Barra are supposed to be 2 of the best goalies not in the NHL, but can they play in the show?

I wouldn't call him a prospect, he's older than Price.

His 0.895 sv % in his 48 NHL games does not look very good.

Goalies do peak later than other NHL players though.

How the hell is Karlsson cleared for practice two months after severing his achilles? Makes you realize that these guys really are a different breed when you see how fast players like Lupul, Pacioretty, and Karlsson can recover from possible season ending injuries.

Was at the game tonight. Whole place was on their feet chanting Kipper going nuts for the last 4 min. Had goosebumps. Glad we were there. Great game too, future looks pretty good for this team to be honest. Backlund fighting and McGratan scoring. lol!

Yes, The Flames have Laurent Brossoit, who might be the best goalie in the WHL this year. They also have Jon Gillies, who was freshman of the year in the NCAA, and was playing great. Quite a few good goalie prospects, though Brossoit and Gillies are still very young for goalies.

Hopefully we get a couple of goalies that turn out well in the NHL. We do have a set of goalie prospects that are the best of their peers, which is always a good starting point.
