Marriott Residence Inn - working on the 3rd floor. It looks like no tower crane here despite all the cinder blocks, precast floors and cement that will need to be lifted as high as 7 storeys.

On CTV tonight they explained Wascana is replacing all its old, distinctive traffic signs with more standard ones because someone had a speeding ticket thrown out of court. I was a bit disappointed, but at least they're using those classy poles for the new ones.

^That's ludicrous. Who really doesn't know it's 40 in the park. Then again, I saw a teenager on a motocross bike cruising down the hill by the pool on a Sunday afternoon as well.

Pics of the new "Jack J. Sharp Medical Building" at 14th ave and Halifax downtown near the General Hospital. One nice touch is the presence of established trees around the perimeter that were preserved during construction. Obviously the setbacks from the street on this project allowed the trees to be preserved where other projects without the setbacks can't, but still it must have taken effort to work around the trees.

^^ Definitely something to commend. I also appreciate the amount of brick used in the building. All in all... Not bad, not bad at all.

Still not a big fan of the stucco, but it is a huge step up from something like Broadway Crossing and reads way less awkward then the development on the corner of 11th and Albert.

Can we get a few more of these types of things going on along Broad Street to fill in the travelers block and Little Saigon? It could be a great entry into 11th Avenue where I see lots of improvements going on in the buildings. Not a lot rented out yet, but the street has improved a lot East of Broad Street.

I have fond memories of the apartment building that used to be there, but I'm happy with this building replacing it. They did a great job in keeping it classy yet functional.

Now it's time to tear down the white apartment building across the street and build an identical building, which would create a really nice corridor to the hospital.

There used to be a great Opeechee Gum sign on the building on the 18 block Rose that was demoed last year to make way for the surface parking lot... I mean future tower...

Noticed the full page ad for a No Frills opening Nov 14th. Assume this is a conversion of an existing Extra Foods (as opposed to new construction). Anyone know which one?

4th avenue in Rosemont? I notice the building painted yellow with the no Frills logo.
