Any ideas on how this works with the existing River City and its "curb cut" for the marina?
Hopefully by going through River City and utilizing the first floor retail

Agree. Was really hoping for something like that.

Incidentally, does anyone know the status of that project?

Holy crapola, more new highrise construction starts. Why are we not calling this a boom again? Oh yeah, because we need an over 800 footer. That should be happening soon enough...

I really like Riverline. I don't think we could ask for better given the site constraints.

Man that river south development looks fantastic

hope it gets done... are there any plans for the west side of the river because as it is now, its a real eyesore! would be cool to see some sort of development happen over the tracks there

Not sure about the whole thing, but pretty sure they have part of their funding in place. Not to mention that Lend Lease already paid $1.5B for the site, which is probably more than it's worth in reality.

Yeah Lend Lease is a HUUUUGE company. They will definitely complete phase one which is only a couple 20 story buildings. After that anything can happen market wise/design wise. I don't think this will happen by 2025 but it is still legitimate.

LOL Tom, the railroads don't own anything anymore other than the one little set of tracks on the East side of the River. Related owns the massive plot south of Roosevelt, Lend Lease / CMK owns the site pictured above, and another developer owns the SW corner of Harrison and Wells and is planning two more towers there.

In 20 years none of these plots will remain as vacant land. What ends up getting built and by who is probably a different story, but you have two of the largest RE companies in the world (Lend Lease and Related) planning competing mega developments along the South Branch right now, this is not child's play.

Tom is talking about the WEST side of the river, which is railroad owned. I think the space north of Roosevelt could have some riverbank development (cool if they could do something cool with the old power station). South of Roosevelt. Active rail.

I am not pessimistic about Riverline, in some form. Gonna happen, as is Related's stuff south of Roosevelt. Not sure what warrants the negativity on Tom's part.

What's up with River City in these mock ups. If the circular building sort of in the middle is RC, the lighting makes it look like they turned the lower floors into parking.

I've heard from a reliable source and oversaw some renders and promotional material for the Gateway project in the South Loop. Apparently things are moving forward. I didn't get a good enough glance at the renders to be able to share anything more though.

I love the use of exposed supports all along the river.
