Wasn't that in the Northern Terminal expansion plan that was suppose to happen first, but got shelved?

I agree. Until recently, most flights I made out of YEG were to the states, so I only saw a shiny new terminal (and now I hear I'll see Starbucks past customs!).

Then I made a flight to Winnipeg a couple months ago... I thought the whole airport had been reno'd up! I wonder if --with a billion dollar expansion approved-- they could spare a few million to get the rest of the airport up to snuff.

That CHED poll is such a load of crap. I can't see how reopening the CCA would take any pressure off the highways. And even if it did, is it Edmonton's responsibility to take pressure off the highways?

Looks like we need a few more votes against. Currently it sits at:

75% - Yes, reopen it.
4% - No, status quo.
22% - Demolish and redevelop.

I think its time to do another letter writing campagne - this is getting stupid. allowing flights to the CC will not reduce fatalities on the highways.

At least the SUN poll is a lot closer but I am shocked at how many people want to reopen that stupid airport. Must be a lot of newcomers who don't know the history and don't understand the ramifications.

Well, OBVIOUSLY the solution would be to build a massive roof a quarter mile wide over the QE2 from city limits to YEG, complete with wind barriers, and then heat the pavement below, effectively protecting the highway from anything mother nature could throw its way...

Poor driving conditions and highway fatalities would be a thing of the past...

I'm sorry, I just don't see how one or two fatalities a year along a route equals these "freeway of death" labels.
