Still a cool photo.

I find it weird how I drive to/from downtown every day and never see this building even though it's so tall now. Was previously unusual for the landmark buildings to be on the False Creek side.

The photo looks like an artist rendering.

I've noticed lately that the term "artistic rendering" is being used instead of the former "artist's rendering". I wonder if that's intentional, or just another one of those things that someone made a mistake once, and then other people took it as the right way. I'm not sure I care either way, it's just one of those things that make me go 'huh.'

I think this may be due to the more collaborative approach used to make renderings these days. Usually its not just one person or "artist" but a few thereby changing the term to "artistic."

Thanks for the comments, guys. It's indeed a gorgeous building, but I think all the east-facing units will suffer from traffic noise, as the twist will make sure that all noise from below will bounce into these condos. I think it will only get better above the twist.

Just a guess.

Great vantage point. Whoever lives there will have a very nice view.

How many more floors are left to build on this? I'm just starting to see it on the skyline from my commute over the Lion's Gate and wow this will look great when topped off.

One of the few towers that already look so elegant even during the construction stage. I'm hoping the adjacent piece of land will generate enough interest to have another iconic tall tower built there, with its proposal coming up soon.

It would also be awesome that this "twin" will be one similar to the Telus tower in Calgary, such that the two towers can "fit together perfectly" if moved closer, like two huge jigsaw pieces separated at the foot of Granville Bridge.

For those on Linkedin, the structural superintendent is now providing regular updates with photos: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6360230838113759232

"VANCOUVER HOUSE: as the tower rises and the floor plate steps east floor over floor, lower down in the tower we would take out the tables you see and modify them in length to suit another 5+ floors, when they were put back in place, many of the tables cantilevered beyond slab edge sometimes 1/2 the length of the table , so anchoring the inside end of the table down to the floor below was a requirement , structural steel beams running the length of the table prevented deflection at the cantilevered end while able to take the downward load required to anchor the table to the floor below, aluminum could not take this downward load, now as we are on 42, we have enough of a floor plate for Most of the table to sit on, and slowly to the east we will change out the tables shown and replace with longer conventional tables. The last few uses of such tables is shown."

From the Superintendent:

Quote:
I'm approaching 24 months on the structure coming from P7 to where we are now on level 42, with 17 slabs to go and we will cap off in late May 2018
Quote:
Actually, it's not leaning, it is vertically post tensioned, providing a rigid spine in support of the super structures weight, we construct the tower out of plumb to the west, but as the weight grows above the superstructure will align to it “home position “
(17 inches from the start)
