Once the floorplate squares up, it'll be a beast.
You can see that the floorplate is much bigger than the neighbouring towers, especially on the diagonal.
I think it's between this one and it's inverse twin in Calgary. This one is a bit more interesting in the day and that one will be a bit more interesting at night. Gorgeous building though!
This one is more amazing because of its challenging structural engineering.
Interesting that they mention how much more concrete is being poured for each floor as they go up:
"VANCOUVER HOUSE : Luso concrete pumping putting level 40 to bed, thanks Guys for slugging it out in the pouring rain all day. Level 40 balanced out @193m3, a full 7m3 over level 39. Last picture shows a close up of a hung curb cast monolithically with the slab, saving huge labour costs going back to form and pour curbs 4 levels below the active deck after reshore removal. Great ingenuity on behalf of Carion construction. Crane 1 in the background with the jumping sleeve in place ready for 6 sections of mast. Those Westbank Luffers look awesome at night with Pink Christmas lights."
My only beef is that they've brought the tower all the way to the ground. It seems rather mean for an ultra-luxury building. The entire first 2 floors should be a double-height glass space containing the lobby and retail. Like, who wants to live at street level at the foot of Granville bridge anyway?

The residential units that come down to the ground are on the Howe Street side of the tower. Behind them (to the east) there's a high ceiling foodstore, with a gym over it. The residential units on Howe on the ground face away from Granville Bridge. There are rental units in the lower building attached to the tower facing False Creek that will be closer to the bridge, but they also have main floor office space underneath.
I would agree with that, both are incredible structures, but the engineering on this one is certainly more unique!

I agree the structural engineering is amazing, but to take it even a step further - the structural engineering is amazing even more so considering it is in an active seismic zone. Incredible thinking that even with a little shaking that this wouldn't topple over.

That's Vancouver for you. The saving grace is that right next to it is the double-height triangular-shaped market, and, not to mention the office/retail shorter buildings that accompany this development.
