... related project:

333 Seymour

Awkward flush curtain wall with fins inserted below the windows bays above.

The rezoning is intended to allow upgrades at the base of the building, including:
◾updated fitness amenities;
◾additional office area in the podium on levels one and two; and
◾additional retail and improvements to the public realm at grade.

I don't love the 333 hanging from the ceiling, but this podium is badly in need of a touch up so this is a welcome project IMO.

Very sad to see they won't be incorporating the chrome columns and shiny tiles into the new podium design. Same with 840 Howe deleting the anchor design at the arcade column bases - needlessly erasing any semblance of playfulness from office buildings in the downtown core.

Yeah, I consider it the office tower equivalent to what they did to the small building
at Georgia & Seymour when they stripped the white marble and replaced it at-grade
with beige tile:

Iconic is an adjetive of icon.

Straight out of the dictionary:

By your own logic, I guess something iconic would automatically make it an icon? You should be the one who should stop making foolish statements.

There's a building next to 601 - you can see it in both the last pictures. There's a vacant lot beyond that, next to the Royal Bank. This is what's proposed, but it hasn't had a public hearing yet.

I am still hoping that the owner of the smaller building next to 601 West Hastings sells there building to the Royal Bank. The Royal Bank could then demo that small building and build a building that is a little bigger than its original plan.

I do wonder what's with the delay though on the public hearing side. I imagine if this [625 West Hastings] was a West Bank project it would by now already have a crane on site...

In the meantime, that site is currently being used as a place for parking and trailers for the 320 Granville tower by Bosa.

I would hate for that to happen, the thin squeezed look with 4 different tower textures along a short block is the entire charm of that project. For mengoves it a blend between Tokyo and New York in look.

That said I really wish it would come to public hearing, would finish off this square block perfectly.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Really claustrophobic place to park it'd seem.
