Since the new "West End Plan" was implemented there is now a rush to redevelop the areas along Davie St. that allow for taller buildings to replace older, lower & more affordable apartments.
1171 Jervis "The Jervis" is apparently a year ahead of schedule as sales went really well, (no surprise in our crazy market). With the average suite going for just under 4 mil it's quite affordable. I should mention there will be social housing on the lower 3 floors. Demo of pretty well the last remaining original houses on Davie is well underway. My pic:
I should note that this building will ruin my cherished view. View analysis were taken from the top floor of my building, how that helps is beyond me as anyone below the top floor in my building will lose their view.
Our tower has amazing views because it has been the lone sentinel at the top of Davie since 1970. My pics:
Just to throw salt into the wound I get to observe this marketing billboard that highlights my soon to be former view. They keep it brightly lit at night as well. My pic:

Being a low life renter I didn't have much to say about this new development. The "dingy" buildings & mature streetscapes of the West End won't enamour those who love shiny new towers, but I would argue it makes for a unique & liveable (affordable?) area. That's changing, with one bedroom rents now approaching $2000.+/month. I don't think those who are being evicted from these development sites will be able to remain in the West End.
Speaking of development sites the older apartments next to 1171 Jervis have also been sold to developers. My pic:
They tried to buy our building but the price was too high (for now). Purchasers of 1171 may lose their views as 1-2 new towers will be built next to them. More of us low life renters will be forced to move. I'm sure it's stressful as hell for many esp. those with kids/pets. Many have lived here for many, many years. But hey it's out with the old & in with the new. Good thing we are all awash with cash these days as you will need it if you are planning to purchase any of these new shiny condos.
Anyone have a clue as to where this project will be?

I'm thinking it will perhaps replace this apartment building (Google Street View pic):
