Sounds like they have walked the decision back, and the CBC logo will stay as long as they are tenants of the building.

I reminded him that the properties downtown are amongst the highest taxed in the city, and are seen by many people from both within the city as well as out of town visitors.

The mayor apparently listens to every call he receives, so I would encourage anyone interested in leaving a message to call and let him know your concerns about the sad state of the sidewalks, trees, Scarth Street Mall, etc. You can leave your name and number if would like him to call you, but I have found it is not necessary. I had called him about an issue a couple of years ago and was surprised to find it had been taken care of not long after.

Also was thinking about some simple versions of bike lanes for Regina. Both of these were accomplished this year in Toronto.

Wish it was going to be bike lanes on both north and south sides, but their bi-directional Northbound side bike lane plan hopefully might mean they would do the South side in the future. The City is investing $250,000 per year until 2023 into bike lanes. Would love them to invest at least one million dollars each year.

Opened 1976. A couple of years later 2 floors were added.

The original Sheraton in Regina was the Sheraton Drake, now the Holiday Inn Express.

I 100% support upzoning the entire city to permit apartments. I support eliminating R1 zoning completely.

But Lien is on drugs if the thinks this is going to get through. I can't believe he spend the money for an architect to draw that.

Additionally, what the heck is that architecture? I think it's what you get because so many people in this city are classical architecture fetishists. That is, it's the result of trying to be modern and classic at the same time. Basically the Las Vegas version of french neo-classical style.

Feels like they're aiming for a generic "upscale" look. Might have been difficult to do, but could have been interesting to see a design that had a bit of an echo of the original building. Something like the apartments on the SW corner of broad and 14th would have been a little closer.

They're retaining the heritage house.

It's going to fail primarily because they're trying to rezone the most prominent single family zoned street in the city. And the neighbours (like councillor Hawkins) are going to lose their minds

I have driven past this house a few times in the last week and was really surprised at the state of the property. The yard looks like shit around this beautiful home. I can imagine they are treating the interior with an equal lack of care, so they can say "Look at this POS! It is in horrible condition. It cannot be saved. It must be torn down!". I suppose they have every right to do so, but in the meantime, on a street with beautiful old homes with manicured lawns, we have this.

The city has put these kind of posts on Wascana Gate to divide traffic from the bike lane. There are no concrete blocks, but the posts are closer together than that picture.

Let's not get carried away. It was never a beautiful home. The giant lot is nice, but the architecture is and always has been bad. Not as bad the turd they just saved on Angus Blvd, but still.
