Harvard's history with Regina and it's generally good reputation would be enhanced with an effort to agree to contribute to tree maintenance on city-owned boulevards. A well-maintained tree canopy will enhance your building's presence in downtown Regina - I believe that although it might involve expense and effort on your part, that the benefits - not only to the city and its citizens in general but also to you - would be significant.

Please consider working with the city to have the trees replaced and to assume responsibility, even if informally, to maintaining them. Your customers, employees and tenants, as well as the entire population of Regina, will all be the beneficiaries.

Actions may speak more loudly than words, but honey catches more flies than vinegar, too.

Make them want to do what you want them to do. Don't goad them into compliance - convince them to want to do it.

I called Mayor Fougere's Speak Out Line on Friday and left him a message about the deplorable and disgraceful state of the sidewalks downtown. I reminded him that the properties downtown are amongst the highest taxed in the city, and are seen by many people from both within the city as well as out of town visitors.

The mayor apparently listens to every call he receives, so I would encourage anyone interested in leaving a message to call and let him know your concerns about the sad state of the sidewalks, trees, Scarth Street Mall, etc. You can leave your name and number if would like him to call you, but I have found it is not necessary. I had called him about an issue a couple of years ago and was surprised to find it had been taken care of not long after.

I’m guessing it was Sheraton when it opened, and the Delta (which was formerly the Ramada Renaissance) spurred the renaming of the Sheraton on Victoria Avenue to Ramada Plaza when the Ramada Renaissance on Sask Drive became the Delta. Lol.

Yeah the original Ramada on Sask Drive and the Delta on Vic switched names quite a long time ago but it was definitely the Sheraton when it opened and I'm not sure when it switched to the Delta before switching to the Ramada.

The Ramada Plaza on Vic, originally Sheraton when it was built, was a Delta Hotel at one time too? Crazy!

So, now that the provincial gov't owns the CBC building on Broad street (CBC is now a tenant), the CBC iconography on the side of the building - that big logo chiseled in stone that's illuminated at night - is being removed. The building is now Sask Archives; you'd think an entity whose aim is to preserve history would maybe opt to keep a piece of history on the building, but alas.

I guess they view it as being excessively recent history, but I'm with you on this. No harm in leaving it, especially as long as they are a tenant, and there are plenty of buildings around with iconography or names engraved on them that are ancient history. It's fun having reminders of how things once were, especially as more time passes.
