That Calgary pic makes it look like the mountains are so close to the city, cool shot.

So I moved into a new apartment yesterday on the 10th floor, so now i have a chance to take some skyline pics!

Please keep in mind that this is known as the "country side" in Japan. So please don't expect Tokyo style vistas.

First, from my balcony looking west:

The Marugame city scape

A close up of marugame Castle, and a local train going by.

And a typical suburban scene in Japan

And looking the other way, to the east, the Utazu Skyline.

Utazu, Japan. Gold Tower by Ian, on Flickr

And the same view at night. The tower with the green lights is called 'The Gold Tower" and if the lights are green, tomorrow will be sunny, if blue, rainy.

Cheers

^ I remember seeing that castle from the train on my way from Okayama to Kochi about 10 years ago! Thanks for the memory!

That's awesome! Your welcome It is such a cute castle because the grounds are huge (tallest walls in Japan) but the castle itself is tiny.

It takes a special kind of insecurity to (i) essentially boast about one's city objectively having the best skyline (which I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone on this forum do); then (ii) attack others for pointing out that - horror of all horrors - it's not also their favourite skyline.
Oh please, how many times have we seen "Toronto #1, Calgary #2, etc", or "Wrong, your city has the best setting" And it's totally ok

Objectively... Vancouver has tons of bad angles. I'm just glad no one there has taken to the same insecurities that drive teenage girls to complain about the lighting in their selfies, while complimenting their frenemies "you look sooo good... in that picture!"

I think it's comparable to the Hamilton-Toronto distance. Maybe a litte farther to the peaks?

Disagree. I think it's straight from the West (say around Crowchild and Bow). From the East has substantially improved in recent years.
