When I was studying at U of S (some time ago!

), I was fortunate to get a place in Varsity View, right on College Ave., near Wiggins Ave., which made for a nice, short walk (esp. in winter!) to classes each day! I agree, all of the above areas mentioned are great, though the areas nearby the university are more established and feature places which are a little more basic or rugged, unless recently renovated -- but with a little bit of your own elbow grease and/or your mom's TLC (you'll need those wherever you decide to move into), it becomes your own place!
One of my friends also lived downtown, and many more chose Wildwood area (close to the big mall)! 8th St. tends to be the restaurant and movie entertainment strip, and of course, there's Jerry's Food Emporium, and Fuddruckers along there!
