If Evraz is considering a new build, would they be doing it on the same spot, or in a different location on the property? If the former, where would the Pats play for a few years? If the latter, it would ruin the inter-connectivity of the property.

Let's say the doors open to a new [or refurbished] arena in 2027. It would be a hell of a lot more practical to have a new facility than to have a dressed up one which would then be already 50 years old.

I do not see them demolishing the Brandt Centre under any scenario.

The old concrete plant west of Pinkie road by the new west Bypass, I think that's what it was. Is being torn down the last few days. Most of the larger building is down. I expect the rest shall follow shortly.

I do not believe that is correct. We are on the high end based on property values and mid pack based on average home value.

I used to drive past that all the time and was told it used to be a bentonite refinery. For years and years there was a security company there keeping an eye on things full-time, always thought it was sketchy, like government black-ops area 51 type thing (maybe an underground bunker ). I have never been able to find out any information about that place.

Hmm...maybe the provincial government can let another business build a head office in the park and have them make a generous donation toward building the aquatic park. I'm joking of course, but this makes me think that Conexus doesn't want the old pool, and its ancient change rooms, on the doorstep of their new head office.

I think it'd be a hard sell, tbh. Depends on the teams, obviously, but I can't see 33,000 people wanting to be outside for 3 hours when it's -30 out.

Pretty much every city with 25,000 or more people have an indoor water park. As well as Melfort.

No insult intended, but I think an NHL game versus a Pats game is like comparing apples to oranges. I would never consider travelling to watch the PAT's but I would definitely consider driving and paying for an outdoor NHL game!

No insult taken; the Pats game was always going to be a very "local" affair, but for reference, ticket prices were the following (the other game was an NHL alumni game):

Two-game packages in the following categories are now available through Ticketmaster and reginapats.com: Pil Zone and standing room ($75), bronze ($149.15), silver ($198.72) and gold ($275.22). That includes all taxes and surcharges.

NHL tickets could potentially be a fair bit more, which definitely would give me pause.
