^I stand corrected. It is still terrible. Maybe planting about six hundred thousand for sale signs around the park would be a suitable expression of dismay.

The City has no jurisdiction on planning matters in the Park.

That's good news. I wonder if the usual people will come out and protest, considering this location isn't in a residential area. Their previous complaints were always couched on "safety" instead of the real issue (racism), claiming that a mosque would bring high levels of traffic. Odd, as these same people don't complain about churches or schools.

So good news for the city and it's Sunni Muslim population.

Actually there are residences on 2 sides of the property. It is a large parcel so they should be able to have significant onsite parking. remember the Vic Ave frontage is a Shell brownfield.

I worry about this location. It's in a highly visible location, in a a fairly bad part of town. It will be a prime target for Regina's racist trash.

I live in the neighbourhood where there was opposition to the prayer hall. Yes, there were legitimate concerns about traffic as the hall required rezoning and the very small parking lot at that location is already quite busy. That space was not designated for that use. This is a different situation as there is no re-zoning required from city council.

I believe there are about 8 Mosques in Regina. I do not recall any issues.

I'm not actually sure where people got the idea the use was designed for Brandt. Some media outlet must have mentioned it but I don't think Brandt ever claimed it was. AFAIK it was always designed for tenants.

I heard from a reliable source that Costco will not be getting a liquor license because they refused to sell at the LB prices. As well, Superstore East is being taken to court over theres because the entry is inside the store vs outside like the cig shop. Not sure why they didn't just put an entrance in.

City is doing a focus group on zoning. Developers don't like the idea that garage frontage could be limited. Honestly, I'll be surprised if the developers don't get whatever they want.

The garage bylaw would make sense too from a parking standpoint. Drive to a new neighbourhood and look for a place to park - it's impossible. The space between people's driveways could only fit a motorcycle at best. The small number of spaces able to fit a vehicle are filled with resident's vehicles who don't want to block access to their garage by parking in their driveway.

Limiting a 25-foot lot to a single car garage makes sense.
