South Common, Leduc Common, now Destination Outlet Shopping EIA, is YEG a 5+ million person conurbation all of a sudden? Who's going to keep all these stores/businesses viably afloat? Am I way off in feeling a little concerned about this (IMO) overcapacity?

One more reason why Edmonton's retail development market was described as the wild west. Seriously, how about re-purposing the millions of SF of obsolete space already present in that market?

I think its a great move if they do an actual outlet mall, look how popular Cross Irons Mills is. I know lots of people who drive down there to shop, an outlet mall would do very well here.

That Leduc power centre is massive. I can't see the need for another similar type of development a few k's up the road.

From what I heard yesterday, there will be a lot of destination places new to the market.

Which begs the question of why not just locate in one of the other centres? Plunking this thing ex nihilo at the airport is so comparable to desparate development programs at other mid-size airports.

I dont think another Leduc common idea would be a great idea...

I could see something very similar to Cross Iron, but i think a "common" idea is not a good plan... Take in the fact that Leduc doesnt really have a mall, I think its a much better Idea.

Interesting to note, spoke to a former colleague today from EIA, they are in active talks with IcelandAir... 👍

^yeah okay. By active talks, do you mean what, somebody posted something on their facebook site? what is with you and Icelandair? I know for a fact that Icelandair is not considering YEG. Edmonton is not on their radar, literally and figuratively. I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't know.

^^^ Wow?^^^

Hmmm...

I guess Icelandair is lying on ITS facebook page, and I guess I must be a complete liar...

I'm taking the high road on this one and not reducing myself to your level.

I will however suggest a bump of "happy gas".

Seriously, this is getting painful.

I have no idea if you're lying or not, nor am I aware of what Icelandair said on "facebook" but I do know that Icelandair is not talking to anyone at YEG about providing service to YEG. Actually, PM me your former colleague's name, and I will check it out for myself.

Take a look back through his posts, he works for neither. Infact he really never has much to say on a positive note...

Anyway enough of this childish bull$#%!.

Back on topic, and jasper, why don't you just hit "ignore"...

Thanks!

Back on topic? We are discussing the possibility of Icelandair providing service to YEG? No need to get upset and get defensive. All I am doing is questioning your information. I don't think it is off topic to question the accuracy of information posted in a thread, as long as what is being challenged is on topic. If you are offended that I questioned the accuracy of your information, that was not my intent. I just have conflicting information and I think it goes against the intent of the discussion board if I don't say anything. If you want this discussion to go away, I will just bit my tongue and wait to be proven wrong. I would love Icelandair to come to Edmonton. After all, it is EIA's strategic objective to have one more "top priority" European destination by 2015.
