It's too bad there aren't more early 20th century homes in the downtown (or the rest of the city) that have been retained and turmed into retail. Nob Hill in Portland is a great example.

I don't think so. I was going down the alley today and noticed a guy on the back porch of the south house.

I remember years ago seeing that the residents of the green house somehow had access to the empty lot on the north side. They set up a patio area with lawn chairs and umbrellas and a BBQ. Imagine having summer parties with friends in a space like that in downtown Vancouver.

I'm just sad to think that one of these times when I head over there to have a look at what's going on I will see a couple of piles of broken wood where the houses used to be and the big old tree will be a stump. If those walls could talk and tell a hundred years worth of stories.

Sixty storeys in the sky? (I would be happier if this is true!)

One full city block?

Hmmmm, why do they have to lie about these things?
Is this poster even real?

Well it is one full block If drake street is your block

Also, the massive hoarding is now built in front of the two houses. Can't even tell they are there now if walking down sidewalk

Is there a possibility they could "build around" the tree? It's been done in other places ..... I think. The building owners would get The Green City Badge of Honor for doing that.

I think the residential part of Anchor Point is hiding behind the Burrard Bridge towers (mid-span structure) in that image. The residential part is about the same height as the office part of the complex (on Pacific) which you can see to the right. Check out this Googlestreetview image:

https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Anchor+...!1s0x548673d36fb44731:0x59c43bd887711cc2

What I was wondering about in that rendering was the alignment of the tower looking like it's right at the other end of the bridge. So, I got a Google map up and put a straight edge over it and sure enough, it does line up like that with a bit of Nelson Place and Scotiabank Tower visible on the left.

Sadly, that tree is probably not big enough, old enough or special enough to get "heritage tree" status. Not like the giant tulip tree that 1245 Harwood was designed to fit in with. Or like this giant old sequoia (?) tree on West 41st Avenue.

What's really irritating is how they market it as "60 storeys of luxury" implying there are 60 unique floors. Which is bullshit. How is that not blatant false advertising? (Which is illegal). Why not omit all the 20 and 30 numbered floors and make the tower 80 storeys? Would that be allowed? Where does it stop?

That could be, but it still looks off.
It seems too close to Burrard Bridge - i.e. it's kitty corner to Salt (which is also visible in the shot.

I think they shifted the bridge upwards.
The lowrrise penthouse of 1000 Beach should be above the bridge deck shouldn't it?

you get a good sense of its alignment with Burrard bridge from this photo. it's going to have a big impact on the skyline.

The major misleading element is that the Burrard Bridge is WAY too small, totally out-of-scale. It wouldn't even look like this with a high zoom lens! The bridge has been edited into the shot and hasn't been sized correctly at all.

...also

When did they merge a Butler and a Concierge? Two mutually exclusive terms IMO.

Yes, above the bridge deck at the north end. But, I think it's lower than the midspan part of the bridge deck. See this angle from the south end of the bridge:

https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Anchor+...!1s0x548673d36fb44731:0x59c43bd887711cc2

^^^ Zoom in and you can see the white triangular part poking up just to the right and a little below the mid-span deck.

Does anyone know what a personal shopping salon is? I'm trying to wrap my head around it, and I cant. Maybe I'm not in a high enough tax bracket, to be able to.

Perhaps they mean a salon that is personal, where you shop for shampoo and like organic cucumber slices to put on your face (rich people do that right?). lol

Anyone?

Yeah, they have taken some liberties with the new rendering, however Burrard Place WILL appear that dominant from the bridge. I have been looking at that area almost every time I go across and it will look huge! Finally some height will appear in Downtown South area.
