Phase 1 and 2 relate to the Boyle Renaissance... so perhaps another?

From what I've heard, the 3rd phase of BSR is going where the Quasar bottle depot is, just south of the LRT portal

Speaking of which, noticed that they pulled the hoarding down over the weekend.. ground floor of phase 2 looks really good.

Stakeholder input informed the evolution of the Civic Precinct Master Plan, which will be presented to the Community Services Committee of Edmonton City Council on:

Tuesday, April 16, 2013
Community Services Committe meeting starts at 9:30 AM - (We plan to advise you later this week of the specific time that the Civic Precinct Master Plan Report will be discussed.)
River Valley Room, Main Floor, City Hall
As a participant in the evolution of this plan, you may register to speak to this plan.

The final plan will be presented to Edmonton City Council in April.

Highlights of the plan and the full plan be available at edmonton.ca/civicprecinct on Thursday April 11, 2013.

Civic Precinct Master Plan Background

Edmonton is experiencing a once in a generation transformation of our downtown: from a new at-grade LRT line along the southern portion of Churchill Square on 102 Avenue to the permanent closure of 102A Ave between 99 Street and 100 Street, to the new Royal Alberta Museum, downtown arena and entertainment centre, the potential performing arts centre, the Quarters Downtown and future upgrades to the Francis Winspear Centre for Music, the Stanley A. Milner Library and the Citadel Theatre.

The Civic Precinct Master Plan is a long-term plan to guide and integrate the development of new and existing public spaces from north of City Hall to south of the Stanley A. Milner Library into one, people-centred area that is attractive to residents and visitors year-round.

This reflects the Capital City Downtown Plan principles of creating a sustainable, vibrant, well designed and accessible downtown. It also advances Edmonton's 10-year goals of improving livability and transforming urban form. The Civic Precinct Master Plan has six guiding principles to help Edmonton achieve its vision of a vibrant, sustainable downtown. Those principles are:

Amplify civic identity
Balance everyday activity and special programming
Create unique zones within the Civic Precinct
Develop everyday activity and programming within the Civic Precinct
Evolve a green city centre and connect it to the River Valley
Foster the year round pedestrian experience

Strathcona Rezoning Proposed to Create Park Space

April 09, 2013

Citizens are invited to a public meeting about a proposed rezoning for a property in Strathcona.

Date: Wednesday April 17, 2013
Time: 7pm
Location: Strathcona Community Hall
10139-87 Avenue NW

The proposal describes rezoning a property located at 10543-86 Avenue NW from a semi-detached residential zone (RF4 zone) to a public parks zone (AP zone) and closing a lane on the property. The rezoning would allow for public recreational use of the property, including the operation of a community garden.
The meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes and provide your feedback to the City. City Council will receive this feedback in a summarized report before making a decision.

About time.
That place needs to go just as badly as anything else in that area needed to go.

That scrapyard across the alley from the bottle depot isn't doing anyone any favors, either.

I had no idea there was another bottle depot near downtown. The big one north of Grant MacEwen is always crazy-busy on weekends with cars lining up out into the street.

The Univer bottle depot is moving off of 112th ave as well, I think it is moving closer to 97th st

Where did you hear that? And where on 97th would they go?

The last news I heard of them moving was last fall, when they planned on moving in the car wash building by the Burger Baron, but the McCauley Community and Norwood School put the kibosh on that.
