I bet it gives us a hint as to what the Conexus building will look like - I suspect this design is attempting to bridge the historical aesthetics of the existing UofR buildings, with the aesthetics of the new Conexus building.

I'm in the don't hate it, but don't love it. It's mostly innocuous and I have a lot of nostalgia for the building. The part that is affected most is where my piano teacher's room was. Proably twelve years of lessons so I get a little choked up when I see the building. So much a part of my life, those hallways and rooms.
I like the treatment between the buildings which is simple and park-like. That looks good. It really opens up the structure with the gallery being gone now. Overall it's pretty reasonable, but yes the Conexus building is probably the more important piece to the overall pass/fail of all of this. This is perhaps dull, but I'd give it a pass. I actually don't mind the orange/rust colour, but I'm a child of the 70s.
