I don't hate it. But I also don't love it.

I bet it gives us a hint as to what the Conexus building will look like - I suspect this design is attempting to bridge the historical aesthetics of the existing UofR buildings, with the aesthetics of the new Conexus building.

I hope I'm wrong...

They do not have an unlimited budget. Basically paid for with donations and some Federal grants. They saved the College Building which is a big win.

I'm fine with the design.

The issue is the stupid private building they're plunking next door.

I'm not calling for a $100 million building and luxury materials... Just of one of those "I've seen better" situations. This feels like a rather poor combination of old & new, sort of a par for the course here though. Was hoping for more since the U of R finagled parkland from Wascana to get funding from Conexus.

Looks nice to me. I have no idea what would have pleased some people. It looks like it keeps some classic and historic looks to it but adds a touch of modernity to it.

I'm in the don't hate it, but don't love it. It's mostly innocuous and I have a lot of nostalgia for the building. The part that is affected most is where my piano teacher's room was. Proably twelve years of lessons so I get a little choked up when I see the building. So much a part of my life, those hallways and rooms.

I like the treatment between the buildings which is simple and park-like. That looks good. It really opens up the structure with the gallery being gone now. Overall it's pretty reasonable, but yes the Conexus building is probably the more important piece to the overall pass/fail of all of this. This is perhaps dull, but I'd give it a pass. I actually don't mind the orange/rust colour, but I'm a child of the 70s.

I like it too. Very tastefully done, in a way that's sensitive to its park setting and to the College Ave streetscape.

The digital mockup has it the same colour exterior as the adjoining building which I believe is Darke Hall. It will be red brick I assume.

What do people actually want? Time travel back to when the stricture was first built?

The new/renoed building certainly doesn't look out of place according to those renderings.

My two cents... I like it. I live a block away from Darke Hall, and have for 30 years. I think it will look good, though I am curious to see what the Conexus building will look like. And while I am not happy with the site of the Conexus building, and the potential loss of mature trees, there is a need to better align Wascana Drive with Lorne Street, which I am sure will be addressed at that time.

Yes. The vast majority of people believe that architecture stopped in 1929 and anything reflective of the current year is an abomination.
