famoso would be a lot better (they don't have much presence in bc yet)

or a blaze (expanding into canada now)

There was a Popeye's in Coquitlam on Pinetree over 10 years ago, I believe that it was opened by a South Korean businessman because they are very popular in South Korea... but it failed in Coquitlam.

they had one in maple ridge too

the plan was for korean business immigrants to open franchises but it never worked out. The chicken and fixins were pretty good. they didn't expand fast enough or advertise enough i guess.

anyway i think the olympic village and area is more mom and pop territory well smaller chains i can't see marshalls or aldo moving in

A lot of OV residents can get pizzas at the Costco, Urban Fare, Save On Food and Whole Foods too.

This 15 storey 174 unit condo building was given the green light by the Urban Design Panel this week. It’s already rezoned, the first of 5 buildings to be built by Concert Properties in South East False Creek in their imaginatively titled ‘The Creek’. Designed by Rafii Architects with Richard Henry Architects it’s the middle of three buildings that will face Quebec Street opposite Block 100 and Lido.

I live around this area and the pace of development the last few years has been incredible.

The downtown Vancouver area seems to be expanding outward.

Micro-managing essentially all developments through non-sensical policies and so-called "Official Community Plan" basically created this bore. Developers are very certain that something like this would get approved by the City. Get used to it, that's what we are getting in years and years to come, as long as the same kinds of people run and lobby in this City.

At this rate of development, I personally don't think they will ever get those promised trams to run on those quiet residential streets in OV. I do see more buses running along 2nd Ave in the future though.


In OV, we should have been getting buildings like the One Central Park in Sydney, Australia. Look it up!

I have been here only 3 years, but I could have sworn that I have seen Popeye's Chicken along Barnet Highway at some point, but I must be mistaken then.

It's not that good chicken IMO. I tried it while in Louisiana (where they are everywhere!).

Starbucks is set to open soon at 2nd & Quebec and there's a Moka House opening on main (so many places to go for a coffee fix)! Anyone know what's going in on the big space underneath Canada Customs? There's a leased sign there now and the windows are taped up.

First canopy shelter I've seen that really makes sense for this rainy city: wide enough for 2-way pedestrian traffic. Love those retail space fronting the plaza too.

Interesting that the top sharp corner of this building is so similar to the Mark downtown.
