The Grassy patch at 1st and Quebec. The city has a right of way on that piece of land so they can either keep it as a tiny park/greeenspace or develop it and lease it out to some retail. I'm betting they will leave it as is, it would be nice if they planted some cherry blossoms there and leave it as a small community park space (greenway) since it's on a bike route.

Yes, I know, I was addressing this comment, suggesting the garage would be rebuilt on the site of the display centre (i.e. on the grassy patch)
- it won't, it'll be in the tower podium.

I believe, from a post made near when Meccanica was completed, that the display center was torn down and the original garage or something like it was to be reconstructed for some quasi-commercial purpose.

so I guess a Chipotle could take the space now

as for the old sales center in the village ... work is starting now and its a Sushi Place according to a teller at the TD Bank.

Just for clarity I would call those mid-sized breeds... and actually both small and large (i.e. Great Dane, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Great Pyrenees, etc.) are also quite suited to condo living. Or put another way... they don't need a ton of exercise and actually can't handle a lot of exercise.

But at the end of the day for most dogs and their behaviour it comes down to exercise. Lots and lots of exercise. Before and after the owner's work hours.

Well I very clearly used the word APPARENTLY within asterisks.

But no way in H E Double Hockey Sticks you'd get a Chipotle in there. The space is too small and the location is too low traffic. I do hope the original business I [didn't] refer to ends up taking the lease though.

If I'm not mistaken Organic Lives had the entire ground-floor... or close to it. Then there was the fire. It's been vacant / being restored for some time. Earnest has taken the South "half" of the ground floor. The North "half still appears vacant.

Mario's has a significant wholesale business and that place is hopping on hot days... that place isn't dying anytime soon.

This info might be outdated, but my Uncle used to own a store that carried his ice cream and knew Mario. I vaguely remember a tour of the plant when I was smaller. As per my Uncle, the wholesale business has declined quite a bit from its peak (at least in Vancouver - not carried by as many retailers anymore), although it is entirely possible that it is still significant and profitable locally and internationally.

My Uncle said Mario is a stubborn, old school Italian that won't change with his traditional ways. Makes for a great, traditional product though. Either the business will die because it won't adapt, or Mario will retire (if he hasn't already) and the son will hopefully give it an injection of new life again.

With all the new condo developments and businesses moving into that area they should open up some more take out places (i.e.: sushi, greek, italian or pizza...yes domino's pizza)....there's not a decent pizza joint within walking distance of the village!

Farina isn't that far of a walk, but I guess it isn't exactly side by side to the neighbourhood. Also there are a few sushi restaurants already. I think a Thai restaurant is opening near the Flying Pig at West.

I heard that Bosa has been negotiating with Mario's for the past couple of years to purchase the building. I would think the idea would be to tear it down and build more condos. They should include the ugly tourqouis building next door.

He probably gets dozens of offers for that property every year, I bet as long as he is in charge it won't change hands

I'm thinking more in the lines of Dominos' Panago or Pizza Hut that would be ideal for this location. Perhaps some chinese take out places (aka sun garden) and wrap's
