I love that idea of a hotel on Broadway! I am sure it would have a very high occupancy given its eclectic feel and proximity to river, downtown and university! Something along the lines of an Alt type hotel would be a good fit.

Does the Nasser group still own the land where Highpointe was to be built. I thought they were partners in that project???

USask giving campaign raises over $428 million

The U of S $500M fundraising campaign seems to be doing well. One of the priority areas of the campaign is "visionary spaces" and a $90M transformation of the engineering building is mentioned in this article.

The university has also demolished Rutherford Rink and other buildings to clear that area.

It would be a major upgrade to the curb appeal on Campus Dr!

Good to hear! They've been dropping hints about it on social media. I wonder if this might provide a rough sense of the timeline for their future Broadway developments --- assuming they'll complete 620 Webster while doing the pre-construction prep for those.

Yes. And a lot of those structural woodwork elements will be visible and appealing in the final product. My only question, and I invite feedback from those in the know, is how the all timber construction will impact the ability to withstand fire as compared to traditional concrete and/or steel contruction.

About the same. The thickness of the engineered cross laminated timber and glulam is similar to burning a thin stick in a fireplace vs a thick log.

Usually what burns is carpet, furniture, clothes, or whatever. A bad fire would make the mass timber a tear down, but that's true for steel too.

The City of Warman and Warman City Council celebrated the Warman Home Centre Communiplex Arena Expansion Project (WHCCAEP) with a sod-turning event on Monday, June 17

Though ground broke and construction got underway back in February, Warman city council and staff were pleased to officially celebrate the $15.1-million project outdoors and show off the site of this project, set to open in summer 2025. The bid for the project was awarded to Quorex Construction at a Special Meeting of Council on December 19, 2023.

President and CEO of Sask Polytech gives a sneak peek at the planning for a new campus

President and CEO of Saskatchewan Polytechnic says one in 19 jobs in Saskatchewan are connected to students, former students and alumni. Dr. Larry Rosia says last year’s graduate employment rate was 95 per cent and for Indigenous graduates, it was 92 per cent. He spoke at an NSBA luncheon and told attendees there will be a sod turning later this year for the new Joseph A. Remai Saskatoon campus, which will be on University of Saskatchewan land next to Innovation Place.

Big difference in single family homes between the 2 bedroom communities: 2 in Martensville vs 30 in Warman. Wouldn't have guessed that.

Warman starts are no surprise. Can't explain the low # of single family starts in Martensville. Traditionally, they are very close to Warman's figures.

Happy day. Funding has been confirmed for all three BRT lines, meaning the full system is now funded and construction will begin soon.

Huge news! Maybe now, when I visit and stay with family in Erindale, taking the bus downtown for drinks will be a reasonable option. Now if they could make paying your fare easier...

I am guessing construction will take 3-5 years assuming they don't do it in phases. Is the system 100% designed, or is additional planning, consultation, etc. required before construction starts?

I feel like I'd heard 3 years, so 2027 opening, but it looks like the Star Phoenix article on it says updates on timelines will be provided in the coming weeks. I imagine/hope some stuff is designed and ready for tender, so hopefully that happens asap.
