The map indicates a BRT Transit Corridor (Red Line): Blairmore/University Heights/Holmwood. The map also indicates a High Frequency Corridor (Blue Line): Lawson/Nutana.

Not sure why the Blue Line doesn't extend into Stonebridge. Budget constraints, perhaps?

At any rate, there are 19 BRT Stations running east-west on the Red Line, as well as another 5 BRT Stations extending into Saskatoon's northeast on the Red Line.
If the map is reflective of where they are planning for bus stops I already see a major failure. There are hundreds of employees at Innovation Place and no stop. Are they expected to walk from 108th Street or from Preston Crossing?

I was trying to research what are factors that encourage people to take transit. Some research indicates that a primary driver is Cost differential between transit and driving. Does this seem accurate?

I have friends who moved to Calgary who never took the bus once while here and immediately took transit to work in Calgary. Why I've asked? The cost of parking in downtown Calgary.

19th St Bridge

Watching the live coverage of the bridge this morning. The two big backhoe operators are back again showing how to work together as a team. Worth looking at.

Here is a very interesting article regarding the challenges facing public transit.

If there was a downtown arena in Saskatoon's future I could see potential for an AHL team to move here, though that would likely mean the Blades relocating elsewhere. I think the NHL is a pipe dream, at least as long as Bettman is commish. He's only interested in US markets.

On the other hand, Regina has the benefit currently of a deep-pocketed ownership group in QCPEG ( Semple's, et. al.) with motivation to upgrade or replace the Brandt Centre. I don't see a 15,000 seat arena being needed in Regina though. A modern 9,000-10,000 seater with luxury boxes & amenities would be suitable fir junior hockey, concerts and other events like the Brier.

Of course given current economics, I think the possibility of either city getting a new arena is many years away. But it's fun to speculate
