Nothing is perfect. But once built I will bet that a lot of people who were nay sayers will go, WOW, why didn't we do this years ago? Not all people are sports fans (Rider fans) but why should we not get a cut of public funds as well when a lot of other areas have had funds that we don't enjoy or like? Just because it doesn't suit the nay sayers wishes doesn't mean that we can't have a piece of the pie too? How selfish is that?

I think what a lot of people (including yourself forget) is this isn't JUST a stadium project. It is a project that have $750M give or take, of private funds going to develop where the stadium once was and the old CP rail yards. Bringing the North downtown / warehouse district closer to downtown as a whole. THAT is the part of this project that will deliver economic development and be better urban planning. The stadium move was to allow for a development to happen. So to say that this stadium has nothing to do with economics is non-sense. This stadium move is a driver of millions of dollars of investment to come in the next 5-10 years.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but the renderings for the Lakeshore Mall Redevelopment on the cites website look really nice. Two nine story buildings and a two story grocery store.

Love it!!! I wish Harvard would bring some mixed use residential downtown to add to the skyline, like these buildings.

With future redevelopment of the old CP yards on the way, Dewdney Avenue's potential for being an incredible restaurant/pub/bar strip is very possible. That would be very nice to see.

Only if they force after-hours establishments into the area, though. If it's just commercial buildings with commercial tenants then it will be as dead as downtown. Hopefully they force street-level after-hours stuff to go there...but I won't hold my breat.

Those will be extremely expensive condos. The smallest units are about 1,200 sq ft and there are floors where there are only 1800 to 2400 sq ft units. Both buildings have 9th floor penthouses with 4,000+ sq ft condos.

That will be awesome! Finally so good size condos for those looking but can't find anything over 1000 sq ft! And it will have good amenities looks like and great access to the park!

I would think that with the bars / pubs across the street that developers will see the potential. But we shall see. I think they want more ground retail especially the workshops I have been at they seem to.

Which is fantastic.

That building on the south side is excellent. A pub, coffee shop, sandwich shop all topped off with residential on top.

It's buildings like that that make a community vibrant.

This is an asburd view not borne out of any evidence whatsoever.

The old CPR site is completely unrelated to the stadium. You might remember the part where the stadium isn't going there anymore. Building a stadium at the exhibition is not going to spur any development on Dewdney that wouldn't have developed anyway due to it being prime development land regardless.

You are simply supposing things that aren't true. The move to the exhibition was more-or-less shady dealings done behind doors very quickly. But they sure as hell weren't done to allow private development on Dewdney. That's simply some post hoc ergo propter hoc.

If you actually think that the stadium benefits the whole province then there's not much to be discussed. The stadium will provide more comfortable seats to the select few who attend games. It will provide no economic benefit to Regina nor Saskatchewan. It will not usher in bigger things and it will not revitalize anything and it won't change the course of the city.

Just because someone disagrees with your childish insistence of government funding of your favorite things doesn't make them Chad Novak. So try a new insult and actual engage in a defense that doesn't go: "the stadium will solve all Regina's problems".
