The Conservatives aren't at all low in the polls. The big thing to watch is if their supporters will show up to vote and how efficient their vote will be. We haven't seen the party platforms yet and that will be something that gets closely scrutinized. Otherwise, the big thing will be to see how PP behaves and how well he can campaign and debate. So far he obviously didn't have a good start and I don't know what he could do to gain support so it's about holding what he has. Carney and the Liberals will need to have a campaign without big stumbles if they are to maintain their lead.

Polls are BS, it's impossible for the Libs to win 40%+ of the vote and the Cons are high enough that a majority for PP is still my most expected result.

Canadians are r*tarded, they're gonna vote the con because "muh libs bad"

I sure hope the PP and the CPC don't win. I think PP being shown as having even some similarities to Trump is enough to sink him for the time being. Of course there can always be surprises and stumbles in election campaigns so I'm not making predictions yet.

I would be completely shocked if the Conservatives pull this off. For the past two months, the Liberals have been riding the patriotic wave. Poilievre was still going on about the carbon tax, in spite of the greatest existential threat Canada has faced in 200 years. Even when Poilievre finally started to talk about Trump, and having Canadian pride, it came across as somewhat forced.

Also of note, is the fact that the Conservatives are literally starting to promise Canadians everything under the sun- huge tax cuts, improved health care (which they voted against), tons of incentives for home buyers, and topping up the TFSA. This is all fine and good, but how are they going to balance the budget, especially if that moron south of US puts tariffs on everything, and starts a Worldwide recession?

The bottom line, is I think Carney can weather the storm far better, and he also comes across as authentic when he speaks.

So far Carney has demonstrated what a PM should be doing and saying. He is presenting a path forward, executing his plan and doing so in a way that is cool, collected and shows confidence. On the international stage he is modeling what is expected for a PM.

I think it would be difficult for PP, he cant come out to strong objecting that what Carney is doing in a crisis. He has not been able to present an alternative vision. He is not very likable, but even if he was the situation would still be the same.

We will see what happens after April 2nd. The crisis may still continuing and that will make it hard for PP to get any traction. If the crisis dies down then he may have a chance.

The Breach reporting on Anaida Poilievre's uncle... while I don't think it is fair and it is off side to report on family members - it sure points out the hyprocisy of Pierre and Anaida on their tough on immigrants, illegal border crossers and undocumented individuals... or they are just horrible people who would do that to their own family.

The news on the radio this morning (BounceFM, a Bell station), is phrasing the latest updates as "Carney is taking a break from Campaigning to talk with the Premiers and make a response to the latest Tariff threats." To me that should give him a boost, since it shows him acting Prime Ministorial, putting Canada first ahead of his political needs, and so forth. I'm sure it's all carefully crafted regardless, but it's also something he has to do.

I think the Conservatives made a mistake not having media travel with them.

Carney is in Ottawa dealing with Trump. That fills up the front page of every major paper and leads on every news cast.

PP is off traveling somewhere in the country with perhaps a few local reports dropping in.

It may not be fair to PP. But that is how its turning out.

Today's new Mainstreet Poll has the race only 3 points apart now. 44 LPC, 41 CPC.

Liason's new daily poll however has the LPC at 44 VS 37 for CPC.

Fun times ahead! PP def has a very motivated base. They are flocking to the rallies, begging for lawn signs right away. That does count for something. Will it be enough in the end? Time will tell.

Carney being seen working with premiers is probably better than any singular policy he can announce on the campaign trail. This is of course the massive advantage the liberals have as being the governing party, and one they are rightfully abusing to its fullest as any government would. CPC is not doing itself any favors though by Pierres campaign is sort of a "world is against me" style campaign than "I will work well with others". Being closely aligned with Smith and having a hostile relationship with ford is a nightmare for his campaign.

Legitimate question, when was the last time we saw this much cooperation from premiers? In this hyperpartisanship we currently live in it is refreshing. Always amazing to see what governments can do when there is a crisis and pressure to act. It helps of course that things like free trade between provinces haven't been politicized to being a left/right issue.

She Strikes Again...

https://www.nationalobserver.com/2025/03/27/news/danielle-smith-ben-shapiro-prageru-fundraiser

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and conservative influencer Ben Shapiro discussed how to help Canada elect “solid allies” to the Trump administration during a private gala in south Florida, according to audio of the event obtained by DeSmog and Canada’s National Observer.

“There was a massive conservative movement that's happening in Canada,” Shapiro said during the 25-minute conversation with Smith. “I think the obstacles to that need to be removed. It is better for the United States to have actual solid allies running in Canada than to have some of the schmucks that have been running Canada over the past few years.”

Not all Premiers.

Danielle is in Florida schmoozing with her alt-right co-conspirators.

If you say it in support of a specific party, it’s OK.

An absolute gift the liberals, and we all know the CPC isn't going to condemn Smith and they especially aren't going to condemn Ben Shapiro.

Smith and the populist part of conservatives in Canada have overplayed their hand. They believe they have a "movement'. There was a movement, and it was a movement to get Trudeau out, not a movement for Trumpian style governing to take over Canada.

The CPC is not going to handle this loss well.

This will be Jenni Brynes last campaign at the national level.

The cooperation has yet to show concrete results. The provincial trade barriers are taking their time coming down.

I was actually shocked by how wooden he sounds when talking about this. He has to pretend to be anti-Trump, to feel the surge in Canadian pride the rest of us innately experience in this situation? What a scary thought thinking about someone like that becoming PM.
