Yeah, I thought it was like 197m, same height as Bankers Hall here.

Well the database has it at a roof height of 196.9m and pinnacle height of 200.9m. Apparently there's a tiny spire on the top of it that no one knows about that counts toward its official height stats.

I suppose considering we're 37 out of 247. That means we're in the top 1/6th

As a country we have less people than Tokyo. Or California.

Yep, and our largest metro area alone (the GTA) is more populous than over 1/2 of the world's countries.

That little thing on top of the building appears to be its window washing apparatus.

But from what I heard, it didn't just take over his life, it was his life. This was the he path choose for himself and so it really was only a matter of time. Quite frankly I'm a little surprised it actually took as long as it did.

Its too bad that they won't be able to do something illegal anymore?
I mean trespassing is one thing, but he & his crew were not only using tools of the B&E trade but apparently forced their way in, i.e. the mischief charge would have resulted from property damage. As a former rooftopper I can't respect that. If I couldn't get into a building, I'd give up on it. But that man was relentless... he'd get into places that I thoroughly checked out and dropped the very same week. He and his crew just wouldn't let a locked door or two stop them from getting the perfect shot. And that was crossing the line.

Not as simple as that. If it was just a one-off I'm sure that's what would happen but they're obviously well aware of just how prolific he was - the 'evidence' is all over the net afterall. Even if they drop the charges they'll have problems. A friend of mine got caught at a building and was likewise charged with B&E. It was a bullshit charge since aside from the fact he had no intent to commit an indictable offence, more importantly he didn't cause any damage. As expected the charges were dropped. But even now many years after the fact he still cannot get into the profession of his choice and is stuck working menial jobs. He's been fighting to get the charge expunged but its not a simple process. So just getting charged can be more than enough to screw up ones future prospects.

Sorry I forgot that Shangri La is only 197. Burnaby will soon be part of the 200+ cities though.... I think.

Edit: Oops, Burnaby's tallest on the books are twin 186 meter towers. Still super impressive though

And I would argue that the vast majority of the World's population lives in countries that have a lot more people than the GTA, and perhaps even than Canada. China and India alone account for close to 1/3 the World's population. Canada's population is still tiny compared to China, India, even the USA and Brazil. We have only one city that ranks significantly in global population charts, and even then it is considerably smaller than many little-known Chinese, Indian and Japanese cities. Certainly Calgary, and probably Vancouver would be considered small cities in many of the larger countries of the world. Even Montreal is a small city by Chinese standards.

When you start to look at not just those 4, but other skylines across the country - Edmonton, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Niagara, Hamilton, etc. - and even suburban skylines like Mississauga and Burnaby - I would argue we swing well above our weight. But hey, that's just my opinion...

Hey Chad, how are you getting the full-size, postable versions of the Peak Aerial photos? The site won't even let me right click to view or save them.

Right click and select view source. Then you have to search through the coding to find each individual image url, usually about halfway down.
