Interesting how other francophone cities like Brussels don't really have much French architecture either. This is true of Lille as well, which is actually in France. Both of these cities look more Dutch, or at least Flemish
Lille is in French Flanders, and indeed was Flemish. Brussels is/was also Flemish. It was majority Flemish-speaking until the mid 1920s. Brussels is still the seat of the Flemish parliament.

In other ways, Lille is quite different from France. For example, the food is more similar to next-door Flanders, and as for booze, it is one of the few places in France where Beer is more popular than wine.

Well certainly better than the announcement I've been fearing which is that one of them was killed or seriously injured after falling. Many of the pictures show them in rather perilous settings.

I used to do that before, accessing roofs, towers cranes or abandoned buildings, but as I am getting older I am getting increasingly reluctant to the idea of doing something illegal. I do go on roofs occasionaly, but only if I had the permission beforehand (happened for the Marriott in downtown Montreal) or if it is a rather unremarkable building without any kind of protection (no code to get inside, easy access to the roof pretty much open to anyone, etc)

Who is this Tomms anyway? Was he a member of this forum?

I've been chased out of a couple buildings myself, but can't take those kinds of risks anymore either.

I'm not sure if tomms is a member here, but he is on urbantoronto.ca
