Naming a specific politician is a textbook example of ranting about a party's political stripes. If you really meant to be apolitical, you should have said "the man" or "the gubbamin".

This isn't a Conservative party move. Most of the Conservative Caucus are indifferent to this law.. This is a REDFORD (I dont know what the Hell Im doing move)! Im not a fan of any of these parties in our province.

For the record...I voted Conservative because it was the best of the worst.

Cleanup of former Whyte Avenue Esso station complete

EDMONTON - A long-vacant property in the heart of Old Strathcona is one step closer to being put up for sale.

Cleanup is complete at an empty lot where an Esso gas station once stood, at the corner of Whyte Avenue and 105th Street, Imperial Oil spokesman Jon Harding said.

A soil removal project began on the site, which is owned by Imperial Oil, last fall. The removal of contaminated soil and replacement of clean soil finished in May. Since then, Imperial Oil has monitored the subsurface conditions of the property.

“That will last for several months and then we may be in a position to market the property for sale when it’s done,” Harding said.

Chalk one up for the Edmonton region.

Three years after joining the corporate exodus to Calgary, North American Energy Partners is picking up stakes and moving its head office back home.

A spokesman for the billion-dollar oilsands construction giant, founded by Edmonton’s Gouin family and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange since 2006, says company brass will complete the move north by the end of July.

Unless they do lots of work for Enbridge, what other customers would be downtown?

If they had no problem having a head office in downtown Calgary all this time, what's wrong with having it in downtown Edmonton? Do the executives need to be in Acheson, or want to be? Guess we'll wait and see what they do.

I guess I find it strange...or feel disheartened...that Edmonton companies would HQ in the suburbs, but when they make the move to Cowtown they HQ in downtown.

Well their justification was to be close to customers? That is, close to the cluster. If the extra cost didn't benefit them that much in Calgary, why would it in Edmonton?

Not every company has it in their visions that they need to be downtown to attract good staff.

Canada Post says the facility will only be used for mail sorting.

A new store planned for the Oliver Square shopping mall will handle stamp sales and parcels.

The new sorting plant is expected to open in the spring.

Growing market pressure to build more rentals. Expect to see more rental buildings in prominent locations as opposed to condos.

I don't know what building they are in down there, but for us, a suite # that ends in a zero means a full floor tenant typically.

There are a lot of RFP's out there right now, maybe this could be one of them ? Finding a full floor may be a bit difficult right now, with the excpetion of Epcor

More rentals are indeed due, though... that area is going to be saturated with them, if this rumour is indeed true
