There are clearly scuppers in just those 4 spots of the mechanical floor. The fire suppression sprinklers “should” be the only thing that contains rusty water.

It does look like the stains are below the four scuppers, which means they are caused by rain runoff, right? So this is by design? FWIW the spots don't look "rusty", more like caked mineral deposits. It's not clear what the fix would be - extending the scuppers further out?

they are probably pressurizing wet pipe system for fire protection. systems on each floor probably share a drainline. no sense in cleaning it as process will be repeated on each floor. when building passes fire final this will be cleaned up.

Crown looks good. It'll be cool once they finish the penthouse and add lighting to the cutout area of the crown. Side note, does anyone know why they're leaving the lights on each floor as it's completed? Seems like maybe a security thing, but they probably have a hefty electric bill with the lights on all night.

Most buildings seem to have most/all of the lights on at this stage of construction. For the office levels, it doesn't appear that they've started building them out. So there might not really be any individual switches per se. That could be part of the reason why? For the residential levels, I have no idea. They've obviously gotten fairly far along in the finish out of those levels.

Besides the s**t stains on the south face in the lower levels, the little cutout at the very top into the lighter part of the crown bothers me to no end. From the regular eye, it looks unfinished and is plainly visible from damn Creedmoor!

^^This! I have to stare at that hole everyday and can't understand how it passed design reviews. Is there a rendering which shows this part of the building in detail? Maybe there's an additional feature which hasn't yet been added?

If it tied into the rest of the south face, moreso that same level around the tower, it would make sense. It just looks like unfinished/missing panels from any southern horizon.

Idk, yay for height, but for the current tallest, this building just really is a messy arrangement for me. It's a shame that it looks best at night.

This argument was hashed out ad nauseam way back during the design, pre-construction and into early vertical construction phases. In fact, I believe some of said harsh criticism of this tower compelled its designer, George Blume, to exit this forum.

Agreed about it being a messy arrangement. Overall, there's a lack of cohesion in different parts of the facade that I can't say exists among other skyscrapers in the Austin skyline.

Was it this towers criticism or a previous tower? Felt bad that we ran him off. I tried in instagram to get him to come back to the forum without any luck.
