KevinFromTexas' design commission standards decision regarding stains on skyscrapers
  • From now on, any and all stains on skyscrapers shall be engineered to be located on the side of the building that faces an alley, where any and all stains have traditionally been located anyway.

If you zoom in closely you can see the second stain forming to the right of the big stain.

The building is still under construction. There is no way the exterior glass will not be cleaned before it is complete. Also, I am not certain of what caused this, but it is certainly not going to be something left to repeatedly leave ugly marks on the building. These are certainly punch list items of which the GC is very well aware.

Why is everyone being so mean to the shit stain? What did it ever do to you? Did it kidnap your family and hold them hostage? Did it make you late for work? It's just living its life and didn't ask to be put up to your impossible standards. What if it has feelings and follows this thread? Dear shit stain: if you are reading this, please know that I see you and I acknowledge you in all your turd brown glory.

They’re working on the ground level. Can’t wait for this to open up. It would make it so much better to walk from Dirty to West 6th and for traffic to clear up a bit

To your point, do we have any idea on when they might remove the barriers from the street out front of the building to finally clear the way again?

Nice! I would probably paint that exposed concrete column if it were my place. I know some folks like it, but I wouldn't want it inside...at least not with some sort of finish on it.

Looks like sidewalk is down on 6th side. Guad still incomplete. Not sure about SA st side. My guess, they will finish all sidewalk prior to pulling all barricades. Estimate 3-4 weeks to wrap all flatwork up and then pull after that. So maybe early Nov.

Yep. And both seem to be emanating from the base of a mechanical level/floor.

An article came out in the Statesman talking about the changes to the skyline during ACL. They mention 6X and they put down 845 feet as it's height. Where are they getting that number from???

The Statesman was never good at reporting on downtown projects. Without doing any research, I think 845' was one of the early heights for this project back in 2018 or 2019.

^ Now there appear to be four stains. Me thinks a gutter and a downspout may be in order. I'll send them the number of the guy who put gutters on my house last year.

These stains are not going to be easy to clean. Allowing this situation to fester for months is insane.
