Love the style of Usonia, and happy to see infill replacing dilapidated buildings, but I know a couple Usonia owners, and they both have the same issue... the building looks good, but is poorly constructed (especially the roof, which you'd think they would focus energy on getting right, since the flat-roof is key to their style).

The inside finishing work isn't great either. Sounds like they grew too fast, took on too much & haven't been able to retain quality trades...

Small sample size, I realize.

It's not North Central obviously, it's a good neighbourhood, it's just that there are badly built, poorly maintained homes that are not much more than a glorified shed. IMHO that's what I would call a ghetto piece of property.

Homes like this attract a certain buyer. A much different buyer than the ones that would live in a Usonia home.

^There are definitely some poorly maintained homes and that house needs to be replaced or fixed in a rather large way.

I have never stated that I am against infill and replacement of homes. What I have said is the aesthetics (for me) and the site orientation of some of the infill work is pretty sad.

Yes, if the reports are true that Usonia homes are being built with shoddy workmanship and no care is being taken to ensure the buildings are going to last, than that is truely a sad direction for the city to be going. Replacing garbage with garbage.

The "hotel" (Lol!) on the corner of Albert and Parliament is still stagnant. The wood is quite discoloured. They ought to demolish and start anew.

Anyone have any picture updates regarding the Golden Mile demo/construction, Dewdney Avenue Sheraton and Keg, Fairfield Inn on South Albert, Canadian Tire former location on South Albert and the completed ground floor retail level of the Centre Square Place downtown?

The Keg had a soft opening over the weekend. Signs are up on the Four Points.

Plans are underway. Most likely the existing structure will be usable.

I have no real first hand knowledge of Usonia homes but there do seem to be issues.

I know they have downsized a bit and they sold off a bunch of lots they purchased in Harbour Landing. (That whole bay was supposed to be their stuff.) You can also see they let their structures sit exposed to the elements far too often. Their infill in The Crescents, for example, sat without building wrap for quite a long time.

Some of the structure yes, but I'd be worried about the discoloured and likely warped plywood. plywood doesn't far well when exposed to Saskatchewan elements for too long.

Engineers have looked at it. Anything too damaged would be replaced.

Would anybody know or be able to closely estimate the height of the west grandstand of Mosaic as well as the height of the highest point of the new stadium above ground?

How do these compare approximately [or exactly]?

I do not believe they have released the height of New Mosaic. My guesstimate is that the new stadium proper is slightly shorter from ground level, but with the roof, it will be taller than old west grandstand. The roof is quite tall.

I'll bet you guys anything that the west side of the old Mosaic will be head and shoulders above the new Mosaic. (20-30' higher.)
