Harbour Village is going to be an interesting building when it's finished. (Sorry, I don't have photos.) It's sort of northwest of the new McD's on Gordon and Harbour Landing Drive. That intersection is going to need traffic lights, especially with the McDs. The Grasslands sign is badly placed; you need to edge well out to see past it to see if traffic is coming on Gordon.

They're going to need lights at the 4-way stop of Dairy Queen and RBC inside grasslands as well. It already gets backed up huge, and vehicles stop in the middle of the intersection because the Gordon lights are red. They made a huge design error only placing a single left exit for the Walmart complex, and then also placing it with a 4-way stop so close to the main street.

The whole area is a mess. I don't know why we keep building these suburban centres, but they always out turn out terribly.

Piling for the lights and wiring has been installed at Harbour Landing Drive and Lewvan Drive. Few more days and there will be lights up at that intersection. THIS is long needed. I have seen some crazy near collisions from people accelerating to get onto the highway and some person pulling out to go south.

Also Gordon and Harbour Landing Drive needs lights bad, as well as the one IN Grasslands. Another location for lights need to be Jim Carins Blvd and Harbour Landing Drive, as well at Harbour Landing Drive and Parliament. But I am sure those are coming.

While I am on this. Pasqua and Parliament needs them.

There are currently yellow warning signs up at the intersection of Montague St. & Sunset Drive stating that a traffic control change is coming soon. I'm assuming it's traffic lights? This is a great idea, for two reasons:

1. Crossing as a pedestrian to the spray park is super dangerous. Cars rushing along Montague never stop for you, even though it's clearly marked as a pedestrian crossing. I've stepped out onto Montague expecting the car to slow down and stop for me and have them zip past nearly clipping me with their side mirror. One time a guy actually gave me the finger for being a pedestrian in a pedestrian crosswalk... because somehow that's my fault and he has places he needs to be?

2. People dangerously speed on Montague, which is a 40km/h zone as it passed by Sunset park. Since it's a clear path from Gordon all the way to Parliament it's quite often a race track. A red light at that intersection would sure help slow some people down.

I would guess its a 4-way stop.

I would also guess 4-way stop for now. It's not really heavy traffic, even compared to Parliament/Montague. But you're right in that they need something, especially for pedestrians.

Half the parking lot is caged off for trailers and construction crew and the building's fascia is removed from the Smitty's entrance all the way over to Rexall. That's about all that's visible at the moment.

Can anyone dig up a planned traffic changes document for 2015 from the City's website to confirm this one way or another?

Thanks for this, Stormer! Wish they would have built one downtown too.

Leg building

Update on the restoration work, interesting read:

It is the hub of government and it is the biggest heritage building in the province and the people’s building, so we’ve got to make it safe and last for another 100 years

NHL Playoffs

Not sure if anyone has noticed the budwieser commercial running during the NHL playoffs, but looks like it was filmed on the plaza in downtown Regina:

Yeah, I remember them talking about that a while back... hadn't seen the commercial though.

I was expecting to see a bit more of the city/square though. For filming on location, it really could have been shot anywhere with the amount of "scenery" shown.

I took some pics the other day of the scaffolding going up on the old "Sherwood Department Store" portion of the Glencore/Viterra building (I think that's what the plaque on the corner of the building at Vic and Albert says).

That is so funny because I was watching that and thinking - I wonder where they filmed that?
Doh! I just never imagined it would be here.
