^I want to photograph Vancouver from this exact location so badly. Imagine what kind of shots you could get during sunset or sunrise.

I was thinking the same. The icing on the cake is it would also involve a trip to the Gulf Islands and a nice hike.

Also, I hate to say this, because it is SSPs favorite buzz term, but Metrotown is the most underrated skyline in Canada. I would rank New West up there as well.

ahead of which cities? I can think of at least two skylines in the GTA outside of downtown Toronto that meet or surpass Metrotown.

Maybe not top 5, but he is right, I would argue that for "skylines" Metrotown and Mississauga are both in the top 10 of Canada.

Points for Metrowtown: It is perched perfectly on a 200 meter tall ridge, follows a linear path (making it look quite large from north / south views), has nice peaks and valleys from nearly all angles, and has added an incredible amount of decent hight over the last five years (many key towers over 100 meters, including office towers). Metrotower 3 is also arguably the nicest suburban office tower in the country.

I love Mississauga's two curved buildings, but I tend to just lump that municipality in with Toronto.

Less familiar with Vancouver but I'd probably do the same with Metrotown.

Separated, though, as I assume they should be based on how you all discuss them, yeah, they're better than most cities outside their respective regions. Alberta's big two being the most notable exceptions.

Yeah, I usually don't include suburban skylines in the country rankings. They should duke it out in the suburbs thread or be included in the larger city total.

North York Centre is the only secondary skyline that tops Metrotown in the GTA. Mississauga needs another half dozen to a dozen infill towers . Some others have more highrises but are too low to compete.

Yonge and Eglinton, is not quite suburban, not quite a part of the downtown skyline. Its getting a new tallest 194 meters.

I thought it might be just the angle but sure enough Metrotown is quietly sneaking up the rankings. 8 out of the top ten tallest built since 2008 in Burnaby according to the database, ~10 more 30 to 56 storey towers u/c at the moment, suspect most of these are within Metrotown.
