Not so sure about keeping the 17 on 12th; they're walking away from an extra SkyTrain connection.

Anyone know why 5 isn't stopping at the westbound stop on Pender at Granville? That sign has been up for a while now.

I thought that stop is no longer served by the 5.

I'd have been surprised if they kept the 222. It's a rush hour only limited stop route (previously there was one that ended at Patterson instead of Metrotown) that's basically a duplicate of the new R2 RapidBus route.

For all the people here who think the River District is out in the boonies - it looks like the plan is to have it be the terminus for some of the north - south routes, such as the 20 Victoria Drive.
On what page do they reference that Route 20 will go all the way to River District? That would really benefit me and make me quite excited, because transit‑wise today it definitely feels like a bit of a boonies.

Ohh I found it! Page 27, goes as recommendation - "Extend the southern end point of the
route from Harrison Loop to River District"

Plus River District gets the 80 extended to 22nd Street along Marine Way, that should be a very quick connection to the Expo Line.

My theory: the extension of the east Van services to River District is intended to help alleviate the famously terrible overcrowding on the 100, for anyone that wants to travel from River District to the northwest, but wants an alternative to taking the 100 west and the Canada Line north.

Is there that much density at River District? I remember after the Canada Line opened they had some of the buses routed to end at Marine Drive Station. TransLink likes to have a pretty clear terminus and randomly on / near Marine Dr isn't it. River District works as a terminus.

It's also why I think the Expo extension along Fraser Hwy is going to lead to big changes to SoF bus routes - the stations will provide a terminus for east-west routes that doesn't exist now.

That'll be a big lift to get those box girders on the columns across the tracks.

That'll defintely get ridership from New West folks going to the Airport and South Vancouver. It'll be a good first step to see if rail service can make sense along the corridor too.

Mildly irritating how the new 57th bus has to detour around the golf course.

Guess it's a race to see whether TransLink or their passengers run out of money first... maybe the subway's opening will finally make it a non-zero sum game?

They do note that the new funding model should be finalized with the Province in 2027 for implementation in 2028.

I thought Translink was going to get into the residential development game to generate income. What happened to that?

They've partnered with PCI for the 266 unit rental building at Broadway and Arbutus. It's not going to be completed until around 2029. They've also proposed a 2 tower rental project in North Vancouver, and a 9 tower scheme in Coquitlam. Neither would be completed until the 2030s, or later. The income won't make much difference to their finances for decades.

There was an alert on the website and there's a sign that says "February 2(?) to indefinitely"

Just saw a bright neon green style bus shelter down on West Georgia near Stanley Park. Also saw a flatbed trailing driving north on Granville near the Bay with some display panel sections of a stop so maybe they are replacing a lot of stops for FIFA.

They also ripped down those old flag poles at the intersection of West Pender/West Georgia.

Here's the most recent contract I think for the COV street furniture operator

https://vancouver.ca/files/cov/2025-115-release.pdf

EDIT: It's just a wrap on an existing bus shelter.

Those were the 1967 Canadian Centennial flagpoles.

There was also a cluster at Burrard and Cornwall that was demolished.
There's still a set at Kingsway and Fraser and at Beach and Denman.

There's something similar at Kingsway and King Edward, but they aren't flagpoles. I don't know if there were flagpoles there before.

I don't know of any others.

Here are the ones at Burrard and Cornwall in 2007:
