From what I can tell (under current regulations), a reflective side mirror is required in Canada and a camera is not a substitute for a reflective side mirror. I could be wrong though. My guess is they get mirrors once they get to Vancouver.

Seems like rear mirrors are getting case by case exemptions. NovaBus.

TransLink to release phase 1 consultation for bus service from Langley Centre to Gloucester.

https://translinklistens.ca/new-transit-service-for-gloucester-industrial-park

Quote:
TransLink is planning a new bus route to serve the Gloucester Industrial Park. We’re seeking input from the Gloucester business community to help shape this service and ensure it meets staffing and operational needs.

As part of this process, we’re inviting local employers and their employees to share feedback on travel patterns and a proposed route concept. This project is fully funded through 2025 Investment Plan and is expected to begin service in late 2026.

-What's Being Proposed?-

A new peak-period bus route travelling along 56 Ave between Langley Centre and Gloucester Industrial Park.
Service Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes during morning and afternoon peak hours.
A one-way loop with approximately six new stops within the industrial park (stop locations to be finalized), with the final routing subject to change.

I don't have a photo, but the steel girders for the guideway over the railyard are lying in wait at the southeast end of the OMC 4 site. Visible from the Expo Line.

there is some video of the new buses in this video, its the first part/story. The third door is interesting. The second story shows the new Amtrak Cacades train.

The Polish transit consultant who posted those photos (?) and details on the Medcom propulsion

Quote:
Warsaw company Medcom - fully Polish - is responsible in this trolleybus for the propulsion system (in SiC technology - silicon carbon), consisting of a traction propeller, static converter, high-voltage divider and a traction buffer battery power.
Canadian Solaris trolleybus has the function of charging while driving and autonomous driving - in linear traffic at distances up to 20 km.
Applied SiC technology increases the energetic efficiency of propulsion systems, limits heat loss and reduces equipment sizes. In practice, this means lower energy consumption, less burden on cooling systems, and higher reliability over long-term operation.
Of course, the trolleybus is equipped with the signature E-Recycler system - an innovative solution to regain energy while braking traction vehicles, especially valuable on routes with large height differences, and such are available in both Gdynia and Vancouver.
This system has been used in Gdynia trolleybuses for more than a decade, and its use has ensured reducing energy consumption by up to several percent, which can be considered a great achievement.

The original Polish version of that video 1:07 mins long. It's also fitted with the driver protection shielding. The compartment behind the driver is full of electronics.

I hope we hit the 12 Mark V trains in service for July 10. That will mark the second milestone (based on 12 1300-1400 trains), the n we shouldn't have to wait long for a Mark V unless we are hunting the newest train to ride.

On the flip side when I was out last wee the day (I didn't know at the time) the 8th train went into service, I only saw 2-3 Mark 1 trains, lots of Mark III trains some Mark II trains and of course 5-6 Mark V trains.

So are Mark I trains only being used when not enough Mark II/III/V trains are free?

Probably many MkI trains are only being used during peak hours only.

There were at least 2 Mk I trains out at 23:00 yesterday (Saturday).

Wonder if TransLink would slow down or pause the MkI retirement in anticipation of the opening of Broadway Subway.

By my calculation, they would need 4 trains in order to run the extension with 2-cars train, or 8 trains to run with 4-cars trains, plus an additional 13 trains to convert existing M-line to 4-cars.

The eventually goal is to run the M-Line with 4-car trains (hence the promised 50% capacity improvement). But not sure if that will happen to coincide with Broadway or at a later date...

Is there going to be in the next decade a Coquitlam to Surrey train? we have about 5 separate lines

Waterfront - Comlumbia
Columbia - King Goerge
VCC Clark - Lougheed
Lougheed to Douglas
Lougheed to Columbia

I know they go through as
Waterfront - King George
Waterfront - Lougheed
VCC - Douglas

but we need more junctions like
Saportone Surrey
M-line at Broadway switching to the other line. Sorry this just bugs me.

That would further bifurcate the maximum frequency of Downtown-to-Langley trains, something that seems inadvisable.

The Burrard Peninsula Area Transport Plan is out.

https://www.translink.ca/-/media/transli...ula-area-transport-plan---march-2026.pdf

Many things to pore through here, but one small piece of North Shore-related info I noted: there's a little more to go on with recommendations for the extension of the R2 to Metrotown. Translink is recommending cutting the 222 entirely, but keeping the 130 with most trips starting and ending at Kootenay Loop, except at peak travel times where they'll start and end at Phibbs Exchange.

Elsewhere they say they want to create a new bus route between Phibbs Exchange and 29th Avenue Station so that North Van can access East Van more easily, and vice versa.

Skimming through the plan now.

I'd have been surprised if they kept the 222. It's a rush hour only limited stop route (previously there was one that ended at Patterson instead of Metrotown) that's basically a duplicate of the new R2 RapidBus route.

For all the people here who think the River District is out in the boonies - it looks like the plan is to have it be the terminus for some of the north - south routes, such as the 20 Victoria Drive.

Lots of good looking changes.

Also for the North Shore 210, 211, and 214 will all terminate at Phibb’s and a new limited stop route will be introduced Phibbs - Downtown

Mention of a possible “if it’s built” bus exchange at Waterfront for the many downtown terminating routes which currently just loop around a block.

And a possible Stadium-Chinatown Station exchange for the North Shore buses coming from the Lions Gate.

That would be great. The Georgia Street termini are pretty hectic and not the easiest to locate/wayfind around.

I guess the only logical location would be the eastern part of Larwill Park not taken by the new art gallery. Possibly with a residential development above.
