...but relative to everything around it, it just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Big ship in the harbour, seems totally in-place to me.

So original. A pretty prominent spot on the harbour and all they could do is mimic a mis-moored superyacht.

So original?

I wasn't making a joke.

It's an active harbour and there is a yacht moored at a dock. It fits perfectly in place and makes the harbour look al the more busy, despite it not moving.

Yeah I don't really have a problem with it. The design isn't the most amazing I've ever seen but it does fit with the harbor and we need the hotel rooms. It's cool you'll be able to access the floating building as a member of the public and get some sight lines and views

I think the only reason it's placed like that is because of the water leases?

I mean how valuable is that tiny stretch of the seawall losing their views in relation to getting some more hotel rooms. It's no different than the view cones and how they restrict development because of some arbitrarily placed location and their view of some mountain.

100% it's going to be covered in guano as well..

That's really cool that we will get a public space built out onto the water. The cafe and restaurant there will be very popular.

Overall, excited for this one.

I think it needs a big sign so it doesn't look like a private yacht.

VAHA Burrard

By me March 23rd.
Looks like a shallow sloping roof.

848 Seymour

A cargo container passage has been installed on Seymour Street.
The ends do not block the view into the pit (yet) but probably will.

By me March 23rd:

Did it look like the crane base was still in the original location?

I think it's an improvement over the original marina proposal.

Definitely! Added public areas and restaurants are way better than mooring for visiting superyachts…

I like it, seems cost-effective and an easy tear down if things dont work out in the future for it.

I would not be surprised if that public floating dock becomes one of the top tourist spots in vancouver.

I forgot about the dock so that sort of removes any concerns about the ship blocking views from the seawall.

The seawall walkway is also a lot higher than water level around there.

There looks to be 2-3 decks above the seawall, depending on if the entry ramp is level or not (with tide variation).

From the rezoning booklet

https://rezoning.vancouver.ca/applications/1055-canada-pl/application-booklet.pdf

From the Elevations it seems like the top of the boat is around the level of the ballrooms.

That's probably not how the owner of Mahony's Tavern sees things...
