What happens with the current passengers? Rebooked through Delta Hubs….SLC, MSP, ATL, DET or ATL or on United?

I’m surprised that SEA is being downguaged to a Q! I thought it was doing so well on the 737!

The evening flight is often on a 800, so must be doing well in the summer at least!

When do these become bookable? They don’t appear on the WS website yet.

(Is there any ‘public’ way to access OAG schedules, or is it only by subscription?)

Tonight
And yes, they can be viewed through flight view. But you have to look up the routes individually and on specific dates

Thanks. I’ve browsed around the new WestJet schedule. It’s pretty underwhelming (to say the least) in terms of new destinations from YYC.

None of the hard-to-get-to destinations from YYC have improved… those connecting routes where I always see lots of other Calgary passengers making the same connection.

But hey, Tampa.

It’s too bad that WS has muscled UA out of its dominance on YYC-IAH. When United had more frequencies, we used to have access to lots of good destinations at IAH. Still requiring connections, but it opened up lots of relatively easy routes from Calgary.

It's possible there's more than hasn't been found yet or weren't filed. Sometimes they don't file all the new routes in the OAG prior to the announcements. It was implied there would be several new routes.

Interesting with winding down of Swoop and lesser extent sunwing. You think more flight additions would be announced to take their place (ie mainline now)

Yeah I think WS has done this in the past as well. Domestically though there seem to be some cuts that are below 2019 levels still? Where is all the Swoop and other WS capacity going to be going then?

A few increases but mostly cuts it appears? (also domestically a decent amount of cuts). I'm a bit surprised SEA is down to 6x weekly

To be fair, the economy is slowing and people have less money to spend. That could be a reason why WS is relatively conservative with this schedule release.

Yeah that's a good point. For YYC there seem to be roughly 115 flights a day scheduled so far, down from the 140 ish in 2019.

Curious - is all the Europe 789 capacity WS is throwing out of YYC hurting AC's FRA/LHR loads/yields or are they doing okay? In the new world order I always worry seasonal FRA in YVR gets replaced with year long FRA and YYC loses it.

Comparing to 2019, Calgary used to have lots of service from lots of carriers. AC treated Calgary as a hub (albeit a small one) with lots of non-stop destinations and tons of connections via Star Alliance. WestJet was a big player in a competitive market.

Since then, most carriers seem to have ceded YYC to WestJet.

A conservative schedule release from WestJet really is surprising given that other airlines have drawn down YYC so much.

(As for "people having less money to spend" ... that's true, to a point. But not so much with the traveller demographic. Flights out of YYC are jam-packed, and those tickets are being purchased at higher fares than I've ever seen in my life. Hotels everywhere are charging ridiculously high room rates - now and through the Christmas season - and they're selling them without discounting. The travel economy is still red hot.)
