That's an amazing shot. Impressive angle that shows so much more than just the CBD.

Coldsrx, I'm still amazed at how many decent condos are available in Edmonton in the range of $200k-300k.

In Niagara you basically can't get a decent condo for under $400k. The handful or so between $300k-350k are generally in rough/down and out neighbourhoods that you'd instantly regret buying in.

I would imagine this is what condos in Edmonton in the range of $100k-$150k would be like? Could be wrong.

Condo living is a lifestyle choice and not needed given that you can snag a decent 3bdrm house for 350-450k and so the value prop or requirement due to cost is not there.

There are also very public and serious issues with safety in central Edmonton right now, a lack of government and public sector employers driving growth and a lot of options in the market.

The 2023 edition of the FEQ ended yesterday after 12 days of great shows. Here is the main stage during the Pitbull concert when more than 90 000 spectators filled the Plaines d'Abraham.

That looks like a helluva lot more than 90,000. Is it free or, really cheap? If so, I'm not surprised.

Both festivals are huge, and I think Ottawa's Bluesfest may attract as many or even more people during its 10-11 days. (Quebec City has almost the exact same dates.)

Though Ottawa appears to have more stages than Quebec City does, though the latter's spaces tend to be larger.

At least the big one on the Plains can accommodate close to 100,000 people. It had 90,000 at least twice this year: for Pitbull and for Les Cowboys Fringants.

I believe the largest single stage capacity at Bluesfest is 30,000. I am basing this on the local media which were saying a week ago that 30,000 people showed up for a record Bluesfest crowd to see Shania Twain.

The FEQ sells about 125 000 passes, the bulk of which is the 140$ general admission. You also have the 535$ silver admission and the 920$ gold admission. This year, all the passes were sold in 2 hours.

The bluesfest had its best year in 2023 with a total of about 300 000 guests. For the FEQ, the 2023 numbers haven't been released yet but it will be a record year as well. Prior to 2023, the last complete edition of the FEQ was in 2019 when it had 325 000 guests.

Wow $140? It's not expensive by any means. It's not cheap either standing with 125,000 other bodies watching on giant screens.

Very impressive but just looking at that QC crowd gives me anxiety! There's a reason I don't really enjoy all but the smaller outdoor festivals - even sold out Budweiser Stage is brutal.

Was tempted to poke fun over Pitbull drawing that big of a crowd in Quebec, but seeing above that it also happened for Les Cowboys Fringants checks out. Though I didn't realize they were that big.

Yeah, I only ever had fun in a crowd like that participatingi n the extracurriculars. I'm far too old and most if, not all, of those extracurriculars are, rightfully, now frowned upon.

I like to think of Quebec as being reasonably well-balanced between appreciating its own stuff and partaking in the stuff that the rest of the world also enjoys. Though in a global village this is increasingly challenging to maintain.

As for Les Cowboys Fringants I'd say they are as big or bigger in relative terms as The Tragically Hip in the ROC. (Perhaps a bit moreso as they cut across more age demographics I'd argue.) In a tragically ironic twist of fate, their frontman has also been diagnosed with cancer at a fairly young age (40s or 50s) - though he is still fighting it and led Monday's show.

Les Cowboys are Quebec's band of legend for the 2000s. Beau Dommage was the band of the 70s, and Les Colocs were the band of the 90s. Can't really think of one for the 80s.
