Can't wait for the vibe around Gore Park to totally change once people start moving into this one and Cobalt. How many residents total between these two?

Around 2,000 between the two. About another 1,500 in Design District as wel.

The increase in foot traffic should be noticable.

It will happen eventually, especially with the thousands of new residents coming. There will actually be some demand for whatever goes in there.

Gore Park needs love in other areas too. Wish by-law would actually enforce the law down there. It can be quite a wild place after dark. Also, I wish they would relocate the Saturday morning free meals for the less fortunate. It's an important service, don't get me wrong. But it's not the right place for it. It makes the park a very unwelcoming place in the morning. Not somewhere I would want to take my kids.

Yeah all the stuff that attracts the na'er do wells needs to be moved OUT of gore park. It needs to go back to being the core of activity, heavily policed, and upscale area it should be.

Ya I think it will get there eventually. Probably pretty soon. People who buy condos in buildings like these will demand high quality amenities in the area. We'll probably see an influx of high end shops and stuff in Gore Park in the next 3 years.

The problem is always going to be.. those.. people.. who inhabit the stretch of the north side of king st between james and john. The ones who shout at the top of their lungs, poop and shoot up in alleys, walk into hotels and piss in flower pots and do other crazy things.

The people that make people NOT want to move into that area.

I mean they managed to turn it around on king william, but then they returned begging people for money because they knew the people coming there HAD money.. I see this sorta parallel world where hamilton is turning into this new place, but the dark gungy vibe of it is existing alongside it at the same time. But we've argued the other side to death so I guess it's just a matter of whether it can either all be relocated or somehow coexist, cuz it won't ever go away entirely.

I believe the city tried to implement a no loitering/spitting and other 'nuisance behaviour' by-law back in 2014, but it failed. They should try again, because quite honestly the situation in the area you're describing is completely out of hand. I don't bring my family down there anymore at all because I fear for their safety.
