It's about time!! The town ships all its high school students across the bridge to Charlottetown which is a huge cost to the School Board. This will be a welcome addition by all.

This is going to be a "tall" 5-story building at roughly 31m. It would be the same height as a 10-story residential.

Can you tell me where it says 31m in height? Just wondering as I couldn't find anything regarding its height in metres. Lots on being five stories and how big in sq feet. Thanks.

Does anyone know what going on at the Southport motel ? Half of the property is demolished already

One of the city council documents listed the height. Can't remember which one.

Southport Motel Expansion

Expansion plans of the Southport Motel was approved and APM couldn’t be more excited to get this project underway.
The building at the far end is already there.

Ok, probably some secret document someplace that Mayor Brown didn't want the public to know about. At 31m, that's 102ft, just shy of the Holman Grand by 16ft. They probably didn't want the neighbours to know. We wouldn't want any NIMBYS going to IRAC would we!

Like I've said before, if they won't allow this type of development downtown, move the downtown!

Adding to my previous post, here is an interesting article from the CBC,

Canada has way more parking than cars. Is it time for that to change?

I'm sure we can see several parking areas around Charlottetown that have lots or sections of, that are never used.
My previous post is a good example of this, the former Kia parking lot would never be used to its full capacity.

It’s wild that we can turn a parking lot into 90 housing units with commercial space and actually increase the number of parking spots by adding underground parking. Like the Portland project…if one councillor has even a single objection to this project then they should be forced out of office.

I agree! I'm confident that it will be given the go ahead due to the housing shortage we're having. The Empire apts just up the street had no issues. The location is good for businesses and there are few residences in the area that would oppose it. As for Porthouse, it's in a bad location, close to copius amounts of NIMBY foolishness.
