It has been very quiet in here for weeks now with a lot going on in the city or if my screen just not updating? Lol I am FOMO lol

This has been approved to go to public consultation. Years ago I said, and I came to this conclusion after travelling across this country and seeing the many peoples that make up this land, that PEI will soon see part of this migration of people to our province. It was about 7 years ago that we've seen the immigrant influx and how it has taken hold here. I said it was coming, and here it is, and so is no housing for them to live in.
I blame the NIMBYS of this province for this as it was them that squashed or delayed building that should have been built to house new citizens. Now we are in a real problem as we can't even get people to build them.
I hope we have gone beyond listening to people like this, who would rather see people going elsewhere or sleep outside in tents. Listening to the MacArthurs and Reids and their attempts to squash development at IRAC, surely we have gone beyond listening to them.
This development must go ahead no matter what they say. Housing must come first!!

At 114 ft, it will be the tallest building in Charlottetown. Imagine a waste plant building can be 12-14 floors high but apartments/affordables/condos to house people can't because of this cities stupid rules.
If this goes past the public review process, and I can't see too much opposition because of its location, it'll be a symbolic monument to all that is
Time to get on the bandwagon and start building up and get away from the 1870's look and provide housing to a growing city, and stop listening to the NIMBYS.

Here are a few renderings that clearly show just how tall this is. it overshadows the tank and the building, and yet, we can't build taller buildings to house people.

No, that's next to it which is highlighted in red. See image.
The new development is next door outlined in the gray. The lots have been rezoned and now it goes to public.
The rendering shows townhouses along Mt Edward Rd and the apartments are 6 stories each.
It will be interesting to see how much it will be chopped down. Hopefully not considering the housing shortage we are in.

West Royalty residents worried about road overhaul coming to their neighbourhood

Donna Simms lives on Ash Drive and is worried extending Spencer Drive will mean more traffic on her street." 

The extension of Spencer is necessary because of the development that is going to take place along Mt Edward.
Well the opposition has started and her statement is the greatest self centered NIMBY statement ever made,

"The last thing we want in this neighbourhood is big flashing lights, more traffic, more housing".
 
There you have it, from a self-centered disconnected person(s) who is totally outside reality. They must live in a bubble. People are unable to find a place to live as housing is scarce and we have people making asinine statements like this. I hope we have gone beyond such nonsense and see the need and fulfill that need.

Here in Moncton we had a lady recently who was able to lop four floors off an apartment building proposed for our most prominent intersection because of the shadow it would cast on her tomato garden!

Someone here said something similar when the proposal for the West Royalty Suites was put forward only this was they wouldn't see across the field and the view when they were doing the dishes.

Why would Summerside be getting another grocery store? They have a Sobeys, Superstore, Walmart, GiantTiger, same as Charlottetown. If anyone needs another store it's in Charlottetown on the East Royalty side or Stratford for a Superstore. Go figure!
