Yes good point. As someone said above they are embracing the seasonality. Though we are losing Florida flights in winter also.

Was just gonna post, I was waiting for it but it's finally starting In July. That's great news, and daily non-stop flights is huge for YOW. I am really happy with this, the more YOW commits to Porter, the better for us. And I really hope they continue to fund a travel fund to bring more international direct routes - which will be crucial.

Flair is going 3x a week YOWYVR until end of October.
Technically its not back in their system for 2024, but its likely too early for them to update the system.

And they're far from done at YOW:
Seems like Fredericton is left out as well. YEG and YYC are most likely next but I can't wait to see what US routes they announce from YOW when they do. Before that though, I'm hoping for E2 service to and from YYT to fill a void AC has abandoned. It would be a perfect opportunity to connect them to other flights in YOW.

Will the concessions aspect of YOW+ be finished by the end of the year? If so, that'd be 3/4 elements of the project finished by the end of 2023 if the Line 2/4 extension isn't further delayed. An announcement to proceed with the Alt hotel despite the CIP grant rejection would be the cherry on top.

Seems weird, because the BOS flight leaves within 10 mins of the EWR flight, so maybe they just mentioned "popular" routes from YVR in the release.

The timings are tricky.

Right between the 2x AC flights that depart YOW around 1730 and 2100 for YVR. The earlier of which is on the 777 or 787 with premium pods.

14, 23, 24, and 11 are new shops. 11 specifically is No Boundaries that I posted above.

Yeah, I was hoping it would be less of a deadzone or repurposed, it's the area above 23 near those escalators, outside the terminal. Maybe more seating or extra service stalls for various things (Bridgehead, Mini pharmacy, mini convenience snack, extended seating area, massage chairs, etc).

If they could get the concessions aspect completed and Line 4 is done - that'd be huge. Porter aims to have their phase 1 of the maintenance facility done by 2023 I think and phase 2 to start in 2024, so if they do announce going through with the hotel regardless of the rejection - that's still good news too. It will mean they can start looking at the southern terminal expansion.

As of now, YOW-YVR is bookable but their site isn't allowing any bookings between YVR and YQT, BOS and EWR. It is allowing you to search between YVR and YFC but no options actually show up. The only option for YVR to both YYG and YQM is through YOW, however the return from YQM goes YQM-YOW-YYZ-YVR since it's a morning flight on YQM-YOW. Based on the date I looked at, 3/4 YVR-YHZ flights are via YYZ and one was through YOW, however YOW was cheaper.

This is great news though.

It should hopefully lead to a YOW- FLL/MCO/MIA route in the winter.

It seems like YVR is their strongest western market off the get-go based on flying YYZ - YVR 5x this summer.

YYT is really underserved.

I am going there for two days, work related, May 17-19, and really the only good option is same plane Porter service via YHZ. No way would I ever back track to YYZ. AC gives YUL as an option, but everything is on Rouge. AC has made it quite difficult to book YOW - YHZ - YYT which I have done in the past.

Yeah the start of the summer season is April and F8’s booking window is currently only until March. Hopefully they’re still around this time next year.

Unless something changed from the weekend, F8’s YOW-Florida offering is 8x weekly next winter, which is +1/wk vs this past winter.

A million times yes! I cannot comprehend YOW not having at least a semi frequent non-stop to YYT... AC had a summer seasonal that was an awful time, late arrival crazy early depart from YYT.

I think I have done direct from YUL, YOW>YUL, YOW>YHZ, YOW>YYZ over the years. I would pay a small premium for direct non-stop service to the rock!!

You've answered your own question "small" premium.

As of this morning their site will allow you to search YVR-EWR and YVR-YQT however YVR-EWR doesn't show any availability. The only YVR-YQT option is through YOW. Still not allowing YVR-BOS.

Well, I am not willing to pay double. Small is relative to the other options and destination. YYT is expensive as hell to fly to generally speaking, so that small premium is in addition to whatever that normal connection cost would be.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet - but I was looking at YOW-YTZ flights a couple weeks ago and I'm sure I saw AC as an option. Checked again today and it looks like they're suspending it from June 1 until September 5.

Summer hiatus when the biz traffic slows down, interesting. That'll make Porter happy, but that's also 4 flights gone all summer.

Today’s departure count: 67, including 1 sun flight

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 0

It really is underserved, and very isolated. Which is why I would like to see direct YOW-YYT with connections here in YOW for them. It would benefit us as well with a direct option. Although, Porter's YOW-YHZ-YYT with no plane change is a great alternative. I would never connect in YYZ for this, absolutely not. It just further solidifies my opinion of AC. I honestly would not be surprised if AC gradually decreases YOW service over the next 5 years as Porter moves in. I don't see them putting in effort to re-capture customers here.

I would pay more too. I agree with you, but as I mentioned, the no plane change with Porter via YHZ would be the direct competition. So for me it really depends on time saved Vs. cost.
