No, he said the same thing on Twitter a while back, implying that construction wouldn't even start until 2027. He's not a stupid person and he seems very detail-oriented, so I can only assume he's being deliberately deceitful for political reasons.

My guess is he is mixing up the completion date with the start date, and now he's spreading that around twitter. Again, a simple email to city staff and he would have his answer. Instead he goes on his Twitter tirades accusing developers of being evil people that don't care about the 'community'.

This seems like the most likely -- the first Tweet in the thread also seems to be attempting to trick people into thinking the beautiful old heritage building is being torn down for the development. Why not post a picture of the ugly box that is actually being demolished?

I mean, if you are able to read more than 1 tweet at a time, you'd see his point is about how the Connolly building has been left without proper supports and has been left to deteriorate. My guess is that by the time the Connolly starts the facade won't be able to be maintained. There is a similar fear with other heritage buildings where developers have said they will respect and protect heritage structures as a compromise, but pull the rug from under the community.

Cities are not a single person, single developer or even a single councillor. They are a collection of people and needs. Developers telling a community one thing while doing another betrays that trust in a big way because these developments are a large shift and change compared to the past, often times for the better, but a massive change nonetheless.

But I think the point that we're making is that Kroetsch is being dishonest in his tweeting. This project will be complete in 2027, not just starting construction. I'm not sure if his tweet is using carefully selected wording "won't be built until 2027" to keep it vague? That tweet was also around election time, and in that very tweet he unfairly takes a swipe at the former councillor.

This project is way different from The Conolly. Lamb is ready to start construction any day now, and the only thing that is stopping him is city permits and councillors like Kroetsch who want to hold the project up over a few dead and ugly trees.

$17 million foundation permit is listed here in the City's February building permit summary.

Lamb said that the foundation piles will extend down 10 floors below grade due to this location sitting on an ancient Lake Ontario sand bar. Also, some other technicalities due to the neighbouring rail tunnel will make this quite an interesting foundation. Looking forward to watching this one happen!

Today. Trees all gone - sorry for the second shot with the glare - I was just quickly pulling over on my bike.

You can see the mansion in the rendering below....

And a good thing too, at 109m in height these will be some of the tallest buildings in the city and way, way taller than anything around them.

I prefer it at this stage. It fills in more empty space on the ground and in the skyline. Plenty of opportunity down the road for a larger building.

They could've just done 1 building with 5 more floors than the other at least - staggered

What's wrong with twin towers? Personally I like the symmetry.

I like the symmetry as well. This is good... just hope it doesn't take too long to get it going.
