The mechanical hut on the top of PDVC is a solid 3-4m, and the new Marriot has a flat roof, making for a roofline around 7-8 metres higher, so I think we will be pleasantly surprised by it's prominence. Still not a game changer for the clump, though.

The entire block to the west of the Tech school is occupied by older 2-4 storey houses and apartments, so it is pretty ripe for redevelopment as well. Given its position on the top of the escarpment near the library, it offers a good opportunity for a gateway building too.

I'm pretty sure there are at least a couple of heritage designated houses on that block, but Ottawa developers are not afraid of a lil' facadism I guess.

You are likely right. I walked by it earlier this week and a lot of the buildings are pretty run down. That block could use some investment one way or another.

I wish the three towers kept their original heights but I still love this development with all 3 towers. Can't wait for Rimap's to start breaking ground too. This+Moon is going to inject a lot of residents and that's gonna be great for the area.

And hopefully some well needed retail (grocery store, hardware store, pharmacy open AFTER business hours).

That would end the decades old West Downtown tradition of spending double on your basic needs at the Hasty Market/Slater Street Market though!

That will be so key. These ones will look very nice once they're up.

question:

A building of 23 and 29 stories on a 3 storey podium-Is it 23 and 29 total stories or is it 26 and 32 stories. I heard from someone in the construciton industry it was the latter?

Floors are total including podium, so 26 and 32.

Not these buildings. These are 23/29 stories including podium. Unless I'm reading the question wrong, they are asking if podiums are included in floor counts, which they are.

A building that has 23 floors on top of a 3 story podium is called a 26 story building

A building that has 26 floors on top of a 3 story podium is called a 32 story building

What am I missing here?

But you wrote that these towers were 26 and 32 which is not the case
