Curve

It was too cold the other night to take the phone out for a pic but they had removed a lot of the fencing along Lyon and there was a nice clear view of the curve! Going to look really nice.

Yup, looking good so far. This will be an exciting one to see go up. The mechanical core of the Lyon side tower is up a couple floors.

Frothing at the mouth for some interesting design work to rise. I'm all rectangled out baby.

On a similar note the formwork for the two buildings at Maitland and Baseline is looking pretty interesting with the round corners.

I’ve been walking by this spot every day on my way to work — exciting to see it start to come up out of the ground. There are now several walls and columns appearing on the south side of the site.

On that note, anyone have any tips on how to post images/where to host them?

I'm having trouble matching up the render to the base as it stands now. It looks like they are focusing on the taller tower first, but the second tower doesn't look like it has a base where it is supposed to.

Rimap initially said Fall 2022, but that didn't happen.

Maybe M+M still needs the site as a staging area until they area. Maybe Rimap is waiting to complete the AC Marriott on Rideau. They also have the Marriott Moxy at the Major Building on the go in the Market.

Long story short, no update at this time.

I couldn't find the reference but I had thought they sold that lot off once the condo market collapsed. The other two buildings to be rental and hotel only. Regardless, still a really nice design IMO. Actually, I would be curious as to what is actually being built currently as condo highrise right now. One tower at Moon... what else is condo that is actually being built? Blair... Westgate.. Petri???

RIMAP HOSPITALITY EXPANDS FOOTPRINT IN OTTAWA WITH SIGNING OF RENAISSANCE HOTEL DOWNTOWN OTTAWA

By Kostuch Media Ltd. -June 1, 2022
Hotelier

OTTAWA — Montreal-based RIMAP Hospitality has signed an agreement with Marriott International to add to its growing portfolio of Ottawa hotels with the addition of the Renaissance Hotel Downtown Ottawa. Located at the corner of Bay and Slater streets, steps from the Lyon LRT Station and Parliament Hill, the project will occupy one of the remaining developable areas in the downtown core.

Rising 35 floors, the mixed-use tower is expected to offer 230 rooms and 270 rental apartments. The full-service lifestyle hotel will feature distinct experiences, including an eclectic lobby bar and restaurant, and 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Led by RIMAP Development, RIMAP Construction, RIMAP Hospitality, GeigerHuot Architecture and Design Agency, the hotel will transport guests through a theatrical and unscripted design aesthetic.

No huge advancements here but still some good steady progress! It looks like they’ll start pouring the second floor soon.

Faster these two towers go up, the faster we see the taller tower go up. This will fill in the area very nicely, can't wait to see these done.

With this and Claridge Moon across the street, that's a nice injection of density and residents to the west side of the downtown.

This lot and the Moon lot seemed like such blight on the western half of the core. I would expect the 2 floor medical clinic thing across the street to be developed sooner than later. Or a proposal at least.

The Appletree lot, the Lutheran church lot, and the tech school gym lot are really all that's left to develop in Downtown West. Three final chances to break the tabletop and declump the view from the West, although the new Marriott will help a little bit in that regard.

Wow, there really are only 3 places left for more developments there. That's so unfortunate. Man, I really wish these 3 towers weren't chopped in height. That 38F proposal was our best shot at breaking the tabletop. 130m to 116 really is a decently sized difference..
