From Broadway Subway twitter:

Work at Broadway City Hall Station posted March 15th:

Check out the excavation @ Broadway-City Hall! You can see light shining through the future station entrance.
The vertical columns support the traffic deck, allowing people to move freely above. There are 70+ metal beams, called struts, supporting the excavation walls below.

Work at Maple & Broadway posted March 13th:

Have a look at crews preparing to hang excavated utilities from the traffic deck at Maple and Broadway. This will protect the utilities during upcoming excavation work.

Edit: Sorry I'm late

Concrete pour scheduled for tomorrow for the headhouse foundation at Main St (rebar in first pic).

From today:

Not a great picture (impossible from this angle) but whatever, the little cart bringing tunnel segments up to the TBM is visible below the ventilation duct on the right.
Elsie is fully inside the tunnel on the way to Cambie.

Photos by me.

^ I still can't get over how close the guideway will be to 887 GNW, that northern portion of the building is laboratory space, I can't image they'll be very happy.

I biked by Mount Pleasant Station on Saturday and stopped to take a look. The conveyor belt was spitting out dirt onto a large pile and while I understand the tunneling will take months to complete, I think it's incredible that the volume of dirt coming out is so small.

It was approx 324,000m3 of soil from the TBM. 40,000 from each station 55,000 at Broadway/City Hall.

I think they mean the TBM spoil at the GNW station.

Napkin calculation:

324,000m³ over 2 years = 13,500m³ per month = 675m³ per working day = 42m³ per hour for an 16-hour shift = less than 1m³ per minute.

Project news releases said up to 18m/day, at 6m diameter that's a max of 510m³/day for one TBM averaging to 0.35m³/min. They don't continuously progress though (to install the liner segments) so the actual flow whenever spoil is coming down the conveyor would be higher.

And then two tunnels so half of that since only the single TBM is running.
