This will be the 5th trans-border route to depart outside the pre-clearance hour. The 6th route to LAX departs 45min after closure is also really stretching it. Make me wonder if all those flights will depart from international, or they will extend the transborder hours.

AC SFO 2100
AC LAX 2115

B6 BOS 2210
WS ATL 2225
UA EWR 2300
UA IAH 2345
B6 JFK 2355

I don't think the DL flight was a red-eye? At least when I took it, it's a noon departure and 7pm arrival at ATL. Had it been a red-eye, I'll never take it (or I'll be force to attend day 1 of the conference right after arrival). But this was a long time ago though...

I was also maybe expecting YHM, since that will be the only southern ontario airport without YVR service on any airline.

There trans-border numbers must have really improved from last summer if they are increasing frequencies while also combating AC/WS.
YHM is a Lynx base, so wonder if they will be the one add non-stop flight. For next summer, they're planning 5x weekly YVR-YYC-YHM.

So maybe the next Ontario destination would be YVR-YQT?

As for transborder... if you search for LAX-YVR for the next few days, you can actually see "sold out" and some really expensive fares. Today's flight is also sold out (checked last night). I guess that suggest those flights are full or close to full, and it's not even close to peak season right now.

.
Lynx doesn’t have a YHM base. That’s swoop.

If anything, I was expecting Flair to give YVR-YHM another shot with a YVR based aircraft.

Well, I was studying the June schedule, and figured that there is no way they can add any additional flight to the YVR based aircraft. They do have to cut some frequency (and routes) to fit most of the scheduled and announced flights in. I think they might announced the daily YWG before realizing they can't possible fit it into the YVR schedule (unless they give up YQG), so they'll have to settle with 5x weekly. Even this is only possible after cutting YUL from 7x to 5x and SJD from 2x to 1x weekly.

Here are all the first flight of the day for YVR-based planes:
#1 - daily LAX
#2 - daily SFO
#3 - alternate YYC/YXE
#4 - early morning flight to YYZ and stay there

Additional serviced are provided by YYZ-based planes
#5 - early morning flight from YYZ, work on YVR routes from late-morning to late-evening, then fly back as red-eye
#6 - mid-morning flight from YYZ, and stay at YVR for the rest of the day

YVR base will give all YKF flights back to YKF, but will handle all YOW flights (possibly due to YOW base are handling the new flights from YHZ)

It's surprising that people was talking about 30 planes is too much for them. Now looks like they have 26 scheduled for June, but as far as can see from YVR schedule, they may not have enough planes... Maybe they'll base #27 at YVR?

Maybe the earliest we can see anything like YHM is S24? But likely they would have to bail out on some other routes, or expand beyond 30 planes for that.

Also noticed AC moved YVR-PVR to days 27 for S23.

So the plane would operate:

AUS 15
PVR 27
MIA 46

Maybe they'll add something on Wednesday?

1 route that Air Canada possibly will add is Vancouver YVR- Washington DC IAD which is a United Airlines Hub with feed both ways.

With WestJet announceing a Calgary YYC - IAD route Summer 2023.

I could see AC add this at YVR eventually.

Funny we were just talking about IAD.

AC is launching YVR-IAD on MAX8s 5 x weekly

AC/UA transborder ops out of YVR this summer will be around 56 daily flights
Quite the massive operation

Also good to see Westjet beefing up YVR instead of retreating

Flair also increasing some of its YVR transborder routes - fun times

Oddly enough UA is also launching daily YYC-IAD on June 2.

Just had a look at TFU what an impressive layout!
And brand new!

Interesting tidbit but Sichuan Airlines’ first longhaul intl route was to YVR in 2012. The second was MEL on 2013.

SFO increase to 7x weekly
LAX increase to 7x weekly
LAS back to 3x weekly 1 July - suspended for 3 weeks only - odd!

June schedule was finalized, July is not. So at this point looks like they'll copy the June schedule to July and August, unless YVR receive plane #27 on July. They do not have enough plane to run daily LAX, SFO, YWG, plus YXU, YQG addition so something will have to go.

It would be great to get some film footage of that! Not just the planes taking off, but also lined up on the runway, waiting their turn for takeoff, if possible facing toward the camera.

I was wondering when the day would come that AC would be flying to Boston, New York, Washington and Miami from Vancouver.
Now I can see Orlando and Philadelphia on the agenda.
Also a Texas trifecta of Dallas, Houston and Austin (just need Dallas back)
Plus a San Jose return and that would complete my list.
Really not too many boxes left to tick.
